Good Morning! If you know my work, then you know that I love to create home decor items! But here is the thing….I have champagne taste but I’m on a beer budget! So I am always on the hunt for bargains that I can turn into something fabulous!
I had 2 good strokes of luck this week!! First of all I went to the Goodwill and found this big bunch of beauty…for only 90 cents a bundle (love that military discount!). Ignore the little bubble blower in the background…she’s always looking for a free photo shoot!

Well then I walked into my local craft store (starts with an M…hmmm..) and found all these summer floral vase/planters for 90% off. So this little beauty was ummmmm……79 cents….yep…..so I of course bought them all (these are the only times that I am glad my hubby is out to sea!)…

Came home and promptly got to work! I used the beautiful silver and pink damask looking paper from the Pop Fashion line called Hip Huggers. I cut off the pretty scroll part to save for a future project.
OK, so here is where the “tip” part of Tuesday comes in. When I am covering something I normally just trace the pattern…but that isn’t always the easiest way and sometimes is just not possible, as in this case. So…I use a very simple way of making my pattern. I self emboss my paper. I take my paper and put it on the surface I want to cover. Then using my fingers I rub the edges (be sure to hold firmly in place, you don’t want slippage with this technique) until I have a groove to follow when I cut.

Hopefully you can see the grooves, my camera had a hard time picking them up.
I use a fabric glue for all my altered projects and mini albums. It dries fast, is SO strong, acid free and lasts forever. It is made for fabric so it doesn’t soak through your papers, ribbons etc…nor does it wrinkle or stain at all. It’s my favorite.
Rather then removing the paper on the vase (messy and waste of time) I just inked the edges black so that if they show through on my corner seams…no big deal.

OK, next I painted and glittered the topsider chipboard piece. I left it bare and plan to use the cardstock sticker on another project.
Then I glued the papers down…..then the topsider piece, then the trims…and I used a border from the Vintage Moon pressons around the bottom of the vase. It’s best to cut your presson into a piece that is the width of the vase vs. trying to wrap it around the vase and rub.

Then I used a sheer and backed it with the pink polkadot Lunch Hour paper from the Office Lingo line. I used some pink bling and then a butterfly presson from Pop Fashion Icons in the center.

After getting the vase all taken care of…it was time to fancy up the flowers a bit!! So I used the butterfly stamp from the Pop Fashion Clear Stamps. I stamped a bunch of butterflies onto the silver Hip Huggers paper. Cut them out…and glued them back to back on black wire. I essentially made flower picks with them.

Then comes the fun part…arranging the roses, butterfly picks and some white berry sprigs. Very pretty and a pretty easy project and the best part is…..it’s CHEAP but looks like a million bucks!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day of bargain hunting and creating something lovely!!
