Hi, Katie Watson here with you all this morning. Today is focus on Trends. I’m kind of combining two different trends together (Well, maybe a whole bunch if you consider the glitter, the crackle paint, the vintage stuff, the old game card etc….) but these are the main two that I am focusing on.
#1 and most important, YoU! With the recent passing of a family member and the loss of the much loved Aleida (from the scrapping world) I have spent lots of time thinking….and what I have realized is that I have a lot to say. Some important stuff…but mostly just little things, the kind of things that make me tick. Not big things….just a lot of little things. So I am committed to start scrapping more of myself. The important and the unimportant. I sure wish my great grandma had left a scrapbook sitting around that gave me clues to what made her tick.
#2- The second main trend is the use of “everything but the kitchen sink”. People are getting super creative on pages and projects. They are using packaging, vintage pieces, odds and ends of stuff….and just filling up pages with anything and everything. Well, this is actually a very freeing process. You really do just have to sit and let your mind go…not worry about how much “sense” it makes or if it matches perfectly….but just do it. Mix colors and patterns that you wouldn’t have thought of mixing. Add lots of texture, dress up an ordinary embellishment with glitter…just let go and let it happen! It is so fun. I seriously talk to myself when I am nervous, I say, “Katie, just do it…it’ll work and if it doesn’t, you’ll make it work. Do it, just let go”. Yes, I know..it’s probably because I have a deployed husband, but I do cheer myself on and I have to talk to someone!
OK, so back to business. My project. I used an 8×8 chipboard binder by Maya Road and filled it to the brim.
These are all the little things that bring a smile to my face, inspire me or make my heart light…..just little pieces of me. Love the silver pressons btw. They are so elegant. Do you recognize the Goodwill Roses? 
Yes, I did paint the leaves….white first and then aqua…and then stamped them with turquoise paint using the end of a drinking straw and then glittered them. I love how they came out…!
I used almost every Pink Paislee line in this book and every type of product also….papers, stamps, pressons ,letter stickers,topsiders and diecuts. Like I said, “everything but the kitchen sink”.
So I challenge you to make an album….and leave a little bit of you in a book for someone to find one day. They’ll thank you! Have a Great Day, Katie

Wow! This is a great project, love all the detail you’ve put into it and all the embellies, yummi! I like your idea of “everything but the kitchen sink”. I have started doing this myself just recently and I am happy to say that it is working for me. I am enjoying my scrapbooking much, much more. This project is just beautiful. But the best thing about it is its you, plain and simple you. I don’t mean simple as in not much used I mean simple as in its all about you and what you love. Its the truth about you and that is such an important thing document. I too wish my grandmother left a scrapbook so I am making sure that i don’t make the same mistake. I scrapbook about myself often. One reason because it will be important to my children one day but mostly because its time I get to spend with me and I love that.
