Let’s eat Cupcakes! But no more than Five……

Happy Monday Morning to you!

When deciding on a project for today’s post, I decided to create something I’ve been meaning to make for months.  I have a 4 1/2 year old and a 2 1/2 year old…  I’ve been wanting to make them a number book to teach counting, and help them recognize numbers and the word associated with them.  The new Sweet Cakes line gave me the perfect opportunity to create a fun book I know my girls will enjoy.

I started with a blank chipboard album and a cardstock base for most pages, except for when I used the green Lovey Dovey paper.  To make the bottom of my cupcakes, I used Honey Bunch.  I then “iced” every cupcake with Sweet Nothings, because I thought the multi colored look was fun for icing.  I then used the Bubblegum flavored Pixee Stix to create a candy topper for my cupcake, and for a finishing touch, I used a “Yum” press on from the Sweet Cakes pressons for the bottom of my wrapper.  Of course, I sewed all over everything.

For each of my pages, I used the Aqua Holly Doodle alphas, and I had a lot of fun using the cupcake stamp from Vintage Pop stamp set.  I used the same paper for each cupcake as I used for the cover.  To create each cupcake, I stamped two times.  One time I trimmed out the wrapper portion, and on the second stamped image, I trimmed out the icing.  Then I adhered the two togehter, glittered the frosting, and added a pink jewel.

This was a rather simple and super cute project that my kids are already having fun with.  This would make a great gift, a fun stocking stuffer, and is a great learning tool too!

Let’s eat cake!  Have a great Monday!  Davinie
