Good Morning! Katie Watson here with you all! I know that for me, I am NOT ready for Christmas yet…I haven’t even begun to dig my Halloween Decorations out of the garage yet..so Christmas seems just too far away to start preparing for…BUT because the Christmas season seems to be so rush rush, I think this year I will slowly start to compile my gifts and be more prepared so I am not out on Christmas Eve still trying to find that one perfect gift!
So now is the time to S L O W down and think about giving gifts the old fashioned way…Make them yourself. My Grandpa always gave us money for Christmas and always handed us the $5 bill and said, “Here, I made this myself”…haha.
I love the new Pink Paislee Tinsel Town line…it is classy and elegant. The colors are rich and deep and as soon as I saw it I knew that I wanted to make an Advent Calendar with it. This will be my 3rd year making cookie sheet advent calendars and every year I get more and more requests for them.
The Pixee Stix glitters………..ohhhhhhh, need I say more…they are the most beautiful shades and textures! I love that they were designed to match the Pink Paislee lines. A whole new sparkly world just opened up to me!
Ok, enough rambling…let’s get down to business. I buy my cookie sheets at the Dollar Store every year. They are cheap and do the job.
Supply List Pink Paislee Products-
Metallic Silver Vintage Moon Accents
Metallic Silver Alphabet pressons
Pixee Stix Glitter- Apple Green
Pixee Stix Glitter- Sugar Plum
Pixee Stix Glitter- Silver Berry
Supply list- Others
13×9 Cookie Sheet (Don’t use Tefalon)
Cropadile
25 magnets (don’t use the black chalky ones, they will leave black scuff marks on your paper. Use silver ones)
20 gauge black wire (hardware store)
White Spray Primer
Assorted Chipboard Pieces
clear dimensional lacquer
Strong Adhesive
Corner Rounder
Black pen
White pen
Glue made for Glitter
Basic Scrapbooking tools (paper trimmer etc)
Green Crackle paint or regular green paint.
Coordinating Ribbon
Directions
1) Spray cookie sheet with white primer. Make sure to spray the back of the edges and the inside of the tray (it helps the paper stick to the metal).
2) Trim the Nutcracker background paper to fit inside cookie sheet, you will have to cut this in half and leave a space in the middle (this will be covered, don’t worry). Corner round top and bottom corners. Adhere to cookie sheet.

3) Use the “A Christmas Carol” bracket edged paper and cut the sides off to make the paper the width of the cookie sheet.. Make sure to keep the points of the brackets in the middle. Ink edges with black ink and slightly distress.
4) Create a calendar template and print out.
5) Adhere strip of striped paper along with a piece of ribbon as a border for the template. Adhere them just above and below the template.
6) Pre-arrange your calendar pieces on a template before you start embellishing them. I start with the big pieces first and evenly space them on the template. Then I fill in with smaller pieces. If you look closely at my advent, I have big pieces that are surrounded by small pieces. Spacing and balance are your most important steps.
7) Once you have your spacing figured out, decide on your colors. Be sure to balance these also. You don’t want a whole corner all green pieces, you need a good mix.
Glitter Chipboard pieces (including title letters and numbers) using Pink Paislee Pixee Stix Raspberry, Green Apple, Sugar Plum and Silver Berry. Tap excess glitter off of piece. Set aside to dry.
9) Cover remaining pieces with left over paper and add pieces of 34th and 5th Avenue.
10) Once glittered pieces are dry , cover surface with clear dimensional lacquer. This will form an epoxy like cover and prevent the glitter from flaking off (not normally a worry but since little hands will be using these magnets, we are adding the coat of protection). Set aside to dry, allow a couple of hours. Once dry, these make great surfaces for pressons.
11) Using various number stickers and pressons, add numbers to pieces.
12) Glue magnets on the back. Set apart from each other to allow glue to dry, the magnets are strong and will move toward each other if the glue is still wet. Set aside from each other to dry
13) Lightly sand edges of primed cookie sheet for a distressed look..
14) Rub Border Silver Pressons on the edges of the painted cookie sheet.
15) Do title work. Adhere glitered letters, numbers and letter stickers to title area.
16) Use the Cropadile and punch two holes in the top of the cookie sheet for the wire hanger.
17) Make a hanger using the wire. Thread it through the holes and wrap the excess around the base (see pic)
18) Tie a ribbon bow around wire.
19) Place all the magnets in their correct spots. Hang and enjoy!

Enjoy Your Day! ~Katie
