Saturday’s Sketch

Shhh!  Don’t tell anyone, but I rarely work from sketches.  And, on the chance that I do, they aren’t drawn up by me.  My whole scrapping process is a little different than that.  I’ll admit that there are times that I do find myself searching for some inspiration from a sketch, though.  And, when I’m in the mood for some sketchy inspiration, I always turn to Pencil Lines.  I’ve long been a fan of their blog, and find that they have some of the most creative sketches out there.  So, when trying to come up with a sketch this month, Pencil Lines was a natural source of inspiration for me to turn to.  My selection…

was designed by Asa Bergstrand for Pencil Lines.  I just loved the use of brackets, and how all of the elements are grouped together!  So, here’s my interpretation of this fabulous sketch:

One of the things I love most about Pink Paislee is how well all of their collections can be worked together.  And, this page really mixes it up!  On of the stickers from the Pop Fashion TopSiders cut in half works perfectly for the bracket accents on this design. For the papers, I’ve combined Paislee Postcards, 5th Avenue and Jack Frost from the Tinsel Town collection; Cubicle and Lunch Hour from the Office Lingo collection; a bit of Moon Glade from the Vintage Moon collection for the swirl in the background; and a bit of Pleasant from the Enchanting line for the “Snow” portion of the title.  Little brads from the Fascinating and Enchanting collections, in addition to a little sprinkling of glitter from various colors of Pixee Stix, add a little sparkle and dimension to the smattering of hand-cut snowflakes on the page.

Speaking of snowflakes, I am always looking for fun little craft projects to keep my little ones busy indoors during the cold winter months. And, hand-cutting snowflakes was one of the crafts we chose to do this month. Little did I know that one of my hand-cut designs would make its way onto this very page…

You can find all sorts of fun patterns to tryright here. I cut mine from the Lunch Hour paper, added a little glue to the edges, and sprinkled it with some Blueberry glitter. Voila! A pretty, handmade embellishment to add to your winter pages. See… all of those fun school-age crafts aren’t just for kids!

Thursday Trends – Handmade Flowers

Today I’m here trying to be trendy for Valentine’s Day, and what better way to keep up with the trends then to give a mini album to your special someone. That’s what today’s post is all about. Mini project, huge trend, tons of love.

For my project I used a scalloped acrylic album, which I adore. I pulled out my entire Pink Pailsee Sweet Cakes stash and got to work. I wanted this album to have lots of places for journaling and pockets to keep love coupons in and a few pictures, so I made envelopes out of my papers. :) I googled a few free templates for envelopes which you can find HERE, and HERE. Then I found some free printable Valentine’s Day coupons at Shabby Chic Craft’s Blog which you can find HERE. I used tons of my Sweet Cakes collection plus a little bit of the new Enchanting line. I added all sorts of Pink Paislee embellishments which include stamps, rub-ons, topsiders shapes, new stickers from the sticker books, Fashion Script alpha stickers, the new Winsome Alpha Stickers, and Sweet Cakes journaling cards.

I also made my own flowers out of the Sweet Cakes line, which is pretty trendy as well. All you have to do is take a sheet of Sweet Cakes and using one of your favorite flower punches punch out about 3 flowers, put some dimensional glue dots on the back of each flower and then layer them one on top of the other, finish it off with a button. Ta-da! :) Now you have your very own handmade Pink Paislee flower embellishments!

How easy was that!

Well, I hope everyone has a Lovely Valentine’s Day!
xoxoxo

Tasty Tuesday

Good morning!

Today I bring you a layout centered around food.  On Tuesdays, our challenge is to make a layout or project that is somehow food related, and this proved to be a challenge to me.  I don’t remember ever making a layout where food was the main subject LOL!  But once I got started I realized how easy this assignment would actually be.  I love to be stretched as far as my ideas in scrapbooking go so this was really a lot of fun.

As I was sifting through pictures I came across these photos of Chloe playing with, eating, and basically WEARING these strawberries.  Not only did it make me laugh, but I could actually remember that day these photos were taken.

All three of my girls just love fruit.  Here is what the journaling says:

“Everytime I go to the grocery store your first request is fruit.  Your favorites being blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries.  You like it even better when I turn it all into a fruit salad with a side of cool whip.  Yum!”

I hope this inspires you to try something new, and to make a layout focused on FOOD!

Have a great week!!

Stamping Sunday!

Happy Sunday! Nicole here, with a little stamping project for all you scrappers who are as indecisive as I am.  :)   Well, maybe I’m the only indecisive one when it comes to picking out which gorgeous Pink Paislee stamp to use…but in any case I think this technique would be fun for anyone and can be used in a variety of ways.

I knew I wanted to use the Fancy Frames stamp set on this layout, but I couldn’t decide which one to use or how to arrange multiple ones on my page to look right when it dawned on me… why not use them all?!  And why not use them just as they are beautifully arranged in the packaging?! So, that’s exactly what I did.  I left all the individual stamps on the sheet just as they are packaged.  I inked them all up really well and then carefully flipped the whole thing over onto some white cardstock.  I took a large acyrlic block and pressed down using that so that I would get more even pressure and coverage.  Then I did the same thing on a piece of patterned paper (Vintage Moon line).  I cut the inside area from each frame on the second sheet (patterned one) and used that to “fill in” the stamped frames on the white cardstock.  This would be really fun with some of the vintage pop stamps too, but using different patterns and colors as “fillers”.

Anyways, then I filled the frames with various things.  Here’s a close up:

(there’s some Fascinating paper and stickers in there as well as some Sweet Cakes Impress-ons.)

Here’s the whole page:

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderful rest of the weekend…it’s actually 72degrees here today so my family and I are off to go for a little hike and soak up some much needed sunshine!  :)
