Wacky Wednesdays – Frame Up

Hi there!  It’s Wednesday again, which gives me a great opportunity to share a project made with Pink Paislee that isn’t a layout or a card. Inspired by the chipboard shapes and particularly the house press-on in the captivating line , I decided to create a frame for my home.

I went to my local Goodwill, and rummaged through their pictures and frames until I found this little number.  I then opened it up, removed the image that was previously showcased behind the mat, and white washed over the green base color to the frame.  This frame cost me $4.

I started by using the chipboard house as a template, and trimmed various patterned papers from both the Captivating and Fascinating Line to create little houses.  I used a Fiskars Apron Lace punch for some of my trims, and layered cardstock with patterned papers for my doors.

I like the finished look of stitching, so I made sure to do that around all my detailed pieces.

I love being inspired by the product I am working with.  Because of that, when I saw the quote on the press-on, I decided to carry that into my design by creating hearts for the background.  I then embellished one of them with a butterfly and layered the houses over the rest.

I love the scalloped Stunning pattern in the Captivating line so I trimmed a bit of it to use as a little hill for my homes to sit on.

I finished it off by creating a tree and using the chipboard for the trunk for a little dimension, and sealed up my project.

It doesn’t cost a lot of money to revamp something and create a beautiful piece for your home.  In the spirit of recycling, I hope you will look around and see what you can change or update!

Have a great Wednesday!
