Saturday’s Sketch – Gettin’ sketchy!

Hello ladies! I’m back again this month with another Saturday Sketch! As I mentioned before, I don’t work from sketches very often. So, I spent some time this last month asking around to some of my fellow scrappin’ chicas what their favorite sketch sites were. PageMaps was mentioned the most often… I thought I should give it a look-see. I have to say, I was equally impressed with their sketches. This one, in particular, caught my eye…

Instantly, I knew it would be perfect for scrapping some photos from our trip to the apple orchards last fall! And, the Fascinating line worked brilliantly with the country-but-colorful look I was trying to achieve to tie in with the whole rustic atmosphere of the orchards.

The sketch even included the perfect spot to create a little apple tree of my own! For this little guy, I first snipped the button off one of the new Petals flowers. The button creates too much dimension, and you’ll want to remove it. I positioned the button-less flower on the page, and secured it with a small stitch to the middle where the button once was. Then, stick the chipboard tree trunk on top of the flower. For the apples, I cut the little red circles from the “Alluring” paper and added a little red glitter to them. Adhere them, using glue dots, randomly on the tree. For the final touch, take a small piece of green crocheted trim from the Tinsel Town collection, and glue it down at the base of the tree to create your “grass.” Now you’ve created your own apple tree embellishment!
