*Stamping Sunday* Welcome Home Frame

Hi everyone! It’s time for a *Stamping Sunday*, and here is a project to get you up-and-stampin’!

I don’t know about you, but some stamps in a stamp set just stump me. I would get a set because I *heart* a few pieces, and the other pieces that I’m not so sure about would tend to get ignored. So let’s take up a challenge to use more of the stamps in our favorite Pink Paislee clear stamp set, and here is one project where I tried to do just that.

I created this ‘Welcome Home’ frame for my sis and brother-in-law’s home, using a 3-windows frame from IKEA. For a few special touches, I used stamps from the Retro Spring clear stamps set. You can see that I used the journaling spot stamp as frames for the couple’s names. The bird stamp is perching on one of the names, bringing a little detail to a simple journaling spot.

I created a ‘dress border’ for the Girl chipboard using one of the flower stamps, stamped in a row.

I also used two other flower stamps from the set to decorate the chipboard houses and also as a ‘sun’. To complete the home scene in this middle window of the frame, I stamped the tree stamp on a Captivating’s Graceful patterned paper, cut out the images and decorated them with some Strawberry Pixie glitter. The little hen stamped image was placed before the caption so that it looks like the little chickie is stating ‘Where The Heart Is’. :)

So there you go. Try your hand out at using all the stamps in your favorite Pink Paislee clear stamp set for your next project and share your ideas with us!

Till the next time!

xoxo, Lia

Friday’s Feelings {Stepping Out}

STEPPING INTO SPRING!

Today is the first day of SPRING and what better way to celebrate the start of the season than with a new pair of sandals!!!  Well, OK…maybe not a pair exactly!  But, since it’s Friday and my focus is on journaling, I decided to do a project about a little obsession I have for shoes.

When I found out I had “Feelings Friday” again, I started stressing. But then I realized, journaling doesn’t always have to be on a layout or mini album.  So, I decided to alter an old sandal using one of my favorite new Pink Paislee lines – Fascinating.

Here’s the journaling I wrote for my altered project, my “SHOE CONFESSIONS”!!!

If you would like to do something similar, make sure you prep the sandal by cleaning it with soap and water, and then wipe with rubbing alcohol.  When the shoe is completely dry, sand lightly with sandpaper.  These steps will help prevent problems with the paper adhering to the shoe surface.

Also to make this project easier, I removed all the straps from the sandal.  Then I covered the sole and heel with patterned paper and then made my own straps out of patterned paper.

Think of something you love, a hobby, something job related, or even a favorite food!!!  Then, find an object that relates to the subject, that you can alter – Don’t forget, make sure your object has enough space for the journaling!!!

Have a great weekend!

wacky wednesday mini love :)

Melissa here!

Today….I’m happy to share my love of all things mini with you.  I’ve always had a thing for small packages–they make me happy, and for some reason handmade tags have a way of causing the very same reaction.  Today’s projects are small, fast, and require minimal supplies.  I’ve created a few tags from chipboard pieces, cardstock stickers, rubons, and stamps. What a fun way to dress up a package and use your supplies in a whole new way.

I decided to gather supplies from the Captivating Collection, and all I used to create the tag bases were chipboard elementsstickers, and a stamp from the Fancy Frames collection.  For the sticker and stamp I matted them on some Kraft cardstock and cut a decorative edge using my Fiskars pinking shears.

Next I piled on the embellishments including rubons, more stickers and chipboard elements and a few odds and ends such as buttons, and flowers.  These were such a snap and are perfect for a spring treat.

I decided to present them as a gift instead of using them individually, and so I created a fun little cone to store them in and send off to someone special.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your Wednesday.

Manic Monday Mini Album

Today I wanted to share a mini book that I created using the Captivating line.  There are so many things that my three year old son says from day to day that surprise me and many little things that he does that make me smile on the inside and wish that he would never grow up.  I made this little mini book to log just a few of the many little things about him at this age.

I used a raw chipboard book and painted it with a cream colored acrylic paint, then sanded it up a little bit and added some ink for a distressed look.  On the cover, I added a floral rub on and round sticker from the Captivating line.  I used a scalloped circle punch and chipboard elements to add layers, in which I inked and distressed as well before adding my title using the chipboard letters and mini letters from the sticker book.

For the backgrounds of each of my inside pages, I used several small scraps of papers from the Captivating line that I inked and distressed.  A few rub ons, stickers, and chipboard pieces (and of course, one of those amazing canvas fabric flowers) here and there along with some black and white photos and journaling strips, and my mini was complete.

This mini is a great way to use up any of those scraps that you have and could also be used as a great gift album, too.

Have a great week and don’t forget to upload your projects to the Pink Gallery!
