Happy Saturday! I got so mesmerized by all the Easter goodness, I almost forgot to make my post!
Saturday is the day for sketches, so I traveled around the net in search of a fun sketch to share with you. I ended up heading to Pagemaps and choosing an 8.5 x 11 sketch from the March Maps:
To mix things up, though, I wanted to share how easy it is to take an 8.5 x 11 sketch and make a 12×12 layout. The initial reason I did this was that my three photos were horizontal, rather than vertical like they are in the sketch.
The result?
The fun thing about this layout is the three different paper lines I chose to work with.
Because of the purple dress in my photo, I went with the touch of purple in the stripes with the 34th street paper from the Tinsel Town line.
I also used two pieces from the Enchanting line in the Winsome Collection, the pink Pleasant and the Delightful butterflies.
I realized something when I went to post this layout just now…. in our DT questionnaire, it asked what our favorite Pink Paislee product was and I said the sticker books. Don’t get me wrong, I adore the sticker books. They are right there at the top. But my very favorite thing that Pink Paislee makes? Why that would probably have to be the base of my layout. Full Moon from the Vintage Moon line. I use it ALL. The. TIME. Some people like to put a sprinkle of glitter to finish a project. Me? I need a touch of Full Moon.
A little side story for ya. When I was in college I lived in an apartment on a Full Moon Drive. When I lived there, I HATED writing checks. I swear every time I had to write a check for something, I would get a giggle out of the cashier and it would make me feel all dirty, because instead of focusing on that beautiful globe in the sky, cashiers, especially MALE cashiers, would giggle and look at me like I spent my nights dancing on poles in my underwear. Seriously. Full Moon as in the sky, people! lol
Anyway…. heehee.
Here’s a closeup of my layout! I recently discovered that my sewing machine is even more fabulous than I first thought, for it can do a scalloped stitch. When making this layout, I also discovered that it stitches just fine through a couple of pieces of paper, and it isn’t perforating. I was worried that it would.
I also used the Enchanting sticker book on this page (you know, as part of that whole “declaring the love” bit), and a great big brown fabric flower, that I adore.
I finished off a few edges with a couple of my new Fiskars Border punches, the Apron Lace, and the Scalloped Sentiment. I am obsesssssed with punches these days.
Thanks for taking a peek! I hope you have some inspiration should you be stumped and looking for ideas this weekend.
Also, if you haven’t blog hopped, you’d better get on it! There are 15 prize packs which means 15 chances to win! See here.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Davinie
