Friday’s Feelings {Are You Feeling Happy?}

Yes I am definitely in high spirits now that the weekend is very near! Today I’d like to share with you a mini-album I created for today’s Friday Feelings on the Pink Paislee Blog. This mini-album has a few pages about what makes me happy now. I intend to add on more pages because seriously, I love my coffee but there are other stuff that make me ecstatic! ;)

I easily journaled each page with the reasons why each these people or stuff makes me happy. If you usually have difficulty in journaling your feelings, use a particular word, phrase, sentiment or quote to trigger those emotions. You don’t need fancy words nor do you need to be articulate to express your feelings. Just jot down what goes through your mind and what touches your heart.

I used Pink Paislee’s Sweet Cakes papers to cover the chipboard pages of this mini-album, and embellished each page with a Chipboard Element and Brads from the Fascinating collection, as well as Fashion Script alpha stickers. For the title on the cover page, I used Captivating Chipboard Alphabets and also alphabet stickers from the Enchanting and Fascinating Sticker Books.

Are you still intimidated by journaling? After seeing how easy it can be, I hope you’ll let that hesitation go and dive right in to adorn your scrapbook pages with your feelings this Friday!

Introducing…Dena Coe {Our May Guest Artist}

Hi! My name is Dena. I am a 30 yr. old SAHM to my daughter Zoë who is seven. I have been scrapbooking for the past 4 years in the traditional sense that we see it now but after literally digging through my hope trunk at home, I unearthed several scrapbooks that I had completely forgotten about! So I guess I was bitten by the bug by the time I was 8.

Currently I am a designer for Paper Trunk, Webster’s Pages and Bad Girls Kits. I feel deeply honored to be working with all of these companies and the amazing people at each one of them.

I love scrapbooking and everything it encompasses. It is such a great outlet both emotionally and artistically. I am so excited to have the chance join the wonderful designers here at Pink Paislee!

We are just “fascinated” of course with how Dena shows off our Fascinating collection this month!  She asked us if she could work with this collection and of course we obliged!  I love how Dena stretched her red alpha stickers between so many projects and even reused the sticker book to create a fun home sweet home mini album.  We LOVE it.  Dena….plain and simple you rock.  Thank you so much for creating such fabulous projects to inspire us all.

To learn more about Dena we invite you to visit her blog HERE. What you see here is only a small sampling of her creativity.  Enjoy :-)

Wacky Wednesday – Recycle Your Stash

Hello again!

These days we are all about recycling!!!  Using things we would otherwise throw away and more importantly finding new uses for ALL of our scrapbooking stash! :)   I’m sure you have all seen scrapbook pages that use the leftover part of chipboard letters, to jazz up a layout.  I have really loved this look for a while and thought it would be fun to use the same technique on an altered project.

After first taking apart the bench, I began covering the legs and middle brace with paper.  I used the Wonderful patterned paper from the Enchanting line and Bewitching from the Fascinating line.

For this project, I used one package of the Chipboard Alphabets.  I removed all of the letters and then covered the leftover section of the chipboard with Pleasant patterned paper.  I then cut out all of the letter shapes, using a sharp knife.

To apply the chipboard to the bench, I simply removed the protective sheet from the back and applied the self adhesive chipboard, to the outer sections of the legs and to the back and front sides of the brace.  The excess chipboard was then trimmed away and the bench was screwed back together.

I tried to keep the surface of the bench fairly simple and flat, as it will get most of the” wear and tear”.  The top and edges of the bench were painted first.  Then, before I adhered the Delicious patterned paper to the surface, I added a scalloped trim (from the Bewitching patterned paper) around the edges.

Below, you can see I used the bird stamp from the Spring Fling Stamp Set, some Winsome Alphabet Stickers and a journaling sticker from the Enchanting Sticker Book to complete the design.

.

Remember, if you make a project like this to protect your work with a couple coats of a protective sealer. That way, you can wipe it off when needed.  It will also help prevent the paper, chipboard and stickers from falling off or getting damaged. (For photographing purposes, I have not applied a sealer to my project yet.)

By the way, I purchased this bench at Hobby Lobby, but I have also seen similar ones at Michaels and Joann’s.

So that’s it for me on this Wacky Wednesday!  Enjoy the rest of your week! :)

Just another Manic Monday

Hello, everyone!  How is your Monday going?  Hope your week is off to a good start.  This is my first post on the Pink Paislee blog.  Hopefully, I won’t mess it up.  ;)    I thought I would share a home decor project with you today.

It is a paper mache altered house.  I purchased it at one of the big name craft stores.  It’s the perfect little project to spruce up your entryway and welcome family and friends.  It really was not that difficult to make… it just takes a little bit of time.

For this project, I covered the base and and roof of the house with patterned paper, using decorative scissors for the scallop edges along the roof line.  I then covered a scalloped die-cut with a painted chipboard frame, added some stitching along the inside edge, and adhered it to the house for a window.

I punched a hole in the large chipboard element , added a bow, and adhered it to the house.   I adhered the chipboard photo corner and letter stickers to the large chipboard element for the sentiment.

I applied the border rub-on and string of buttons along the bottom edge of the house.

I added hand-stitching to the chipboard flower’s leaves, and layered two acrylic flowers, a chipboard flower, two buttons, and a brad for the flower.  I then adhered it to the house.

Lastly, I applied the butterfly rub-ons to patterned paper, cut them out, and adhered them to the house.
