Thursday’s Trends: Glimmer Mist

The idea of “Thursday’s Trends” is for us Pink Paislee designers to construct a project that reflects a trend we are seeing in the industry.  One cool technique that I have seen everywhere lately is the use of inks or ‘glimmer mists’ on layouts.  Originally, I would only use glimmer mists to cover chipboard and what not.  Now, the idea is to spray it directly onto the layout.  It resembles a paint splatter and I must admit, I love the messiness!!

I used some brown Glimmer Mist on my layout.

First, I sprayed a splatter directly onto white card stock.  Loved the way it turned out.  Second, I applied a Heidi Swapp butterfly mask to my layout.  I then sprayed around it and again, really liked the effect.  I then tried spraying another ‘splatter’ to the bottom left-hand corner of my layout and the result was not nearly as appealing LOL.  The spray was to heavy for my liking.  So I masked some of it by applying patterned paper, buttons, and some painted chipboard…leaving only bits and pieces of it visible.  So my advice would be to spray very lightly.

Here is the finished result:

Have fun playing and don’t be afraid to get messy.  Have a super week!

The Warehouse Sale Will Close Friday 7/9!

Ya’ll like a good warehouse sale don’t ya?  We were completely overwhelmed at the response to our very first virtual warehouse sale but it was a good overwhelmed ya know??  We want to thank everyone who placed an order and helped us clear out some space.  However….all good things must come to an end right?  We have lots to do to prep for the upcoming CHA Show and that means we have to wrap up the warehouse sale.

Sneak Peek Week Starts 7/20!

If you don’t already know Pink Paislee releases new products twice a year in conjunction with the Craft & Hobby Show schedule.  This means we develop over 100 products for the craft and hobby market in a 12 month period.  The funny thing is we always have more product ideas than we can physically develop so it is never a boring job!!  The next CHA show is July 28th and that means we will reveal four new collections to retail store owners in just a few weeks.

Today I am going to give you an itsy bitsy sneak peek of the collections we have developed for the remainder of 2009 along with the collection names!  We have been working on these collections for months and we have some pretty exciting changes in store for our “pink” fans.  You will want to jot down July 20th on your calendar because that is the date we will begin sneak peek week here on our blog and of course we will have lots of “win it before you can buy it” opportunities for our faithful blog readers!  We will show you actual photos of the products along with lots of fabulous projects from our team.

Enjoy the sneak and be sure to come back to our blog on July 20th when we begin the REAL REVEAL!

Retailers:  Look for an email announcement on July 17th outlining how you can pre-order our latest collections for your store.

Saturday Sketch – a 4th of July Post~

Happy Saturday morning to you!  And for those in the US, Happy 4th of July!

When I saw that I was to post on the 4th, and it was a sketch day, I thought it was a great opportunity to search out a fun sketch that would look great with 4th of July photos.

I decided to check out Valerie Salmon’s Got Sketch site for this sketch, and peeked around at sketches for both 2 and 3 photos.  This is the sketch I chose:

I liked the fluorishes and thought they’d be fun for fireworks photos.

The photos I had that were fireworks related were vertical, not horizontal as the sketch shows, so I changed the layout a bit and went 8.5×11 rather than 12×12.

I used a fun blue swiss dot base cardstock, some white cardstock,

Beautiful, from the Captivating line

Spectacular, from the Fascinating line

Black Fashion Script alphas

and topped my stars with some Coconut Pixie Stix.

I hope you have a fun and safe holiday and that this sketch helps inspire you with what to do with your holiday photos.

Have a great day!  Davinie

It’s Wednesday!

Hello everyone!

This wednesday, I’ll show you that your favorite Pink Paislee products are not just made to make layouts, mini albums and cards, but that they are perfect for ANY kind of ART, esp. wall art!

Here’s a canvase I made for a clas I was teaching in Ireland last weekend and it was simply amazing to see everyone’s amazing work, every single canvase was different!

Simply apply newspaper to the background of your canvase, use your favorite acrylic paints to cover the whole background with paint, mount your favorite piece of Pink Paislee papers on cardboard, make tress and clouds and this is it! You can definitely hang your most favorite pictures on the wall now!
