Amber Road Mini Album

This is the Amber Road album that I created for display at CHA. I had gotten several comments and emails asking how it was made, so I thought I’d post that here on the Pink blog today.

The album is made entirely from patterned paper. There is no mini album base or chipboard used.

The first thing that I did was cut pieces of patterned paper down to size. I cut two pieces the same size for each page. I used a scalloped border punch on another patterned paper for the scalloped edge. It took two 12 inch strips of punched paper to go all the way around the 4×6 page.

Adhere the strip of punched paper to the backside of one of your pieces of paper, then trim off the excess.

Do this all the way around, try to match up the corners as best as possible.

This is what the backside should look like after you get all four sides adhered and trimmed.

Adhere your other rectangle of patterned paper on top.

Then you have your first page! For the pages after, I made them slightly larger to create a layered effect. For example, my second page is about an 1/8th of an inch taller in height than the first page, the third is an eighth larger than the second, and so on.

Create how ever many pages you want and then you have your base album to add whatever you’d like. I inked all of my edges for more dimension and added stitching along the borders as well, after adding more paper, photos and embellishments.

Here are the inside pages:

Hope you all have a great week!

Feelings…

Fridays are all about feelings around here. And, I wanted to share my feelings about someone very special to my family… someone we all miss very dearly. Tomorrow will mark 2 years since my father-in-law passed away after paralyzing injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He never liked to have his picture taken, so we have so few visual images to remember him by. I think that I only have 2 photographs of us together, and this is one of them…

I’ve hung onto that picture for quite some time now, not really able to scrap it. But, I thought this prompt would be the perfect opportunity to get my feelings down on paper. It was hard to find the exact words, so I opted for a quote instead: “If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane… I would walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.” ~Author Unknown.

I also wanted the journaling to be a strong visual element in this layout. I created the heart using an old piece of chipboard and tracing it over the patterned paper and edge of the photograph. Using an X-acto knife, I removed the heart, and backed it with a piece of kraft-colored cardstock. Next, I hand-sewed around the heart image, and roughed up the edges of the heart. For the journaling, I used the newPear Whimsies and Chocolate Whimsies alphabets to create the background portion of the quote. Then, I layered the Limeade Glitter alphabet to spell out “memories” on top. The rest of the quote was completed below on a journaling spot from the Amber Road-Postcards patterned paper.

It was very theraputic for me to create this layout, and the perfect way to remember such a wonderful, good-humored man that our family loved so much! Thanks for letting me share my feelings with you this Friday, and I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Go Big And Bold – Wacky Wednesday

Okay, so technically it is not Wednesday – but, I um, sort of got my days mixed up. I *thought* today was the 12th…and then realized, no, it’s the 13th. Leave it to me… lol!!

As you know, Pink Paislee recently released some gorgeous new lines – including one of my favorites – Twilight! It was so much fun to work with – and the bold colors made me want to create in a big and bold fashion!

To make the big stars, I sketched out a star on plain white paper and then cut it out, using it as a stencil. I had originally planned on using two full stars but, it overwhelmed the layout. So, instead, I cut one in half! I then created a black background for each star to make it “pop.” I simply attached the stars to black cardstock and cut a border around them.

I also used the awesome new Clear Borderline stickers (I looooove them!!), and Punch Outs and the gorgeous new alphas.

Thanks for stopping by! See you again soon!

Stamping Sunday {Mix It Up}

Happy Sunday!

Since I am not super technique savvy I thought maybe I would show everyone how versatile the new Impressions clear stamp sets from Pink Paislee are.

I started out by making a Halloween layout featuring the new Twilight paper (I used a circle from every sheet of paper in the collection), Press Ons, and Borderline stickers. I also used the new Expressions Glitter Alphabet in licorice.

I punched 8 scalloped circles from the paper and randomly stamped images on the circles. I used the crowns from the Cupid collection (actually just the tip of one of the stamps was used), I stamped stars with the stamps from Mistletoe & Co., the compass is from the Amber Road collection, and the remaining images are from the Twilight collection.

It was interesting to look through the stamp sets to see how each could mesh with the other.

There are no boundaries when it comes to crafting. Mixing items from different lines can give a different look and just gives you more for your money.

Have a GREAT week!

Beware Couture {Hats Off To Halloween}

During Sneak Peek week we revealed a paper crafting creation designed by one of our team members Jennifer Beason and boy did we got ALOT of requests asking us how to make this gorgeous project.

This project was also one of the most photographed items in our booth during the trade show in Orlando because everyone was in awe of just how fabulous it was! We couldn’t agree more and I just wish I could squeeze an ounce of talent from that girl for myself.

So….I am happy to report that we have added this project to our Pink Projects section so you can instantly download the step by step directions. While you are there you can also download the instructions for the CHA make and takes that we handed out during the show. Click HERE to get download project sheets.

Our Twilight and Amber Road collections start shipping to stores next week so be on the lookout for these products to arrive in your local stores.
