Watch out for Wacky Wednesday

Hi everyone I hope you have all had a wonderful month, well it is my turn to do a Wacky Wednesday, and my project isn’t really Wacky but it is very useful in using up every bit of your yummy Pink Paislee products.

I created a Name and Number Plaque for the Entry to my home,  and I just have to say how much I loved using the gorgeous “Amber Road” Collection, just beautiful and so very different.

From the collection my main feature to this project was the “Amber Road Punchouts” not only did I use the fun punchout tags, but I also used the left over inverse tag where the tags came from, which I then turned into frames, it worked so well and it was a really great way to create frames with different shapes.

To make the frames stand out, I placed foam mounting tape behind each frame, and then stuck each frame to the front of the houses, I then added flowers which I cut out from the “Autumn Blossom” pattern paper and also the punchout tags.

Also added some gorgeous Expressions Glitter Alphas in Cherry for my title and also the swirls for decoration.

To create my border to this project, I stuck the “Amber Road Borderlines” to some white cardstock, then using my scissors I cut around the design to create a fancy border and stuck it to the bottom of my project, I also lifted the border using some foam mounting tape, this gave my project some definition.

I then finished off the project by sticking the Amber Road “Fall Festival” pattern paper to the back of the project.

Well I hope you enjoyed this project and have fun giving these ideas ago.

All the very best and have a wonderful Halloween.

introducing jolene pienaar….our october guest artist

Hi! My name is Jolene Pienaar and I’m from the sunny hot country of Australia – Queensland. I am one of those addicted scrappers who can’t stop scrapping and when I HAVE to stop, I can’t help but think about scrapping!  This hobby quickly turned into a burning passion to create to my hearts contempt and to be able to pour my heart and soul out into journaling about absolutely precious moments.

I am very fortunate to have the most gorgeous girls – Katie-Lee is 4 year old and my little Lily is 5 months old. They provide me with endless amounts of laughter and joy and of course gives me a gorgeous topic to scrap about frequently.

I found scrapbooking when I was pregnant with my eldest girl, very keen to document all those special achievements in her life I started dabbling in this gorgeous hobby, it didn’t take me long to realize that I have found a life long love in photos, paper and glues.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to play with the Pink Paislee products!

jolene’s designs for Pink Paislee:

When we sent Jolene her box of “Twilight” goodies the first thing she said to me was “we don’t really celebrate Halloween here in Australia.”  So….as you can see by Jolene’s fabulous designs….you can truly use our products for any theme or subject matter.  She even sprinkled in products from our previous collections to tie it all together.  Jolene has such a great way of adding all of the little details and we are thrilled to introduce you to her work here on our blog.

To see more of Jolene’s projects be sure to visit her blog HERE.

Thank you so much Jolene for sharing your style with us; all the way from down under no less!!

Just Another Manic Monday!

Happy Monday everyone! Mondays on the Pink Paislee blog are called Manic Mondays…that means anything goes! Today, I thought I’d share a non-Halloween layout using the Twilight line. I don’t know about you but I have a weakness for Halloween products…it’s one of my favourite holidays and I love the orange/black colour combo!

I used to fight this attraction because I only scrap one or two Halloween layouts each year but recently I decided it was more fun to embrace my love of Halloween products :) I’m especially attracted to products that are versatile and the Twilight line fits the bill perfectly! I especially love the Eclipse and Nightfall papers, the polka dots and the lines could really be used for any layout. I also love the B-side of the Twilight Postcards paper, it’s neutral and could be used with just about any colour combo!

I used all three of those papers in my layout below. The Nightfall paper was used as my background…it’s subtle but so much more interesting than plain black cardstock! I cut the Eclipse paper to remove any “Halloween-ey” parts and ended up with a really neutral piece of ledger paper that I used under my picture. Finally, I used the back of the Postcards paper to journal on. The bats worked perfectly with the theme of my layout so keep that in mind if you have a child like mine who’s just crazy about Batman ;)

Finally, did you notice the lines of black dots? That’s a stamp from the Twilight set and it’s my new favourite stamp! So easy to use, so versatile! After I finished my layout, I noticed a couple of bare areas that could really use some spicing up…I ended up stamping a long line of dots to the left of my journaling and a few short lines under the picture and this made the layout so much better!

That’s all I  have to share for today! I hope I helped you look at these awesome papers in a different light :)

Sketch Saturday~ !ole! (Bravo! or Cheer! in spanish)

(I’ve got you guessing haven’t I ???)
How many of you like to use sketches?

I love them…… I have found over the years of scrapping so much, that they really help my creative process, especially when I am on a tight time limit. I have found that whenever I have a snippet of free time, I like to sketch my L.O ideas or plans into a small note book in my purse, then transfer them to my sketch file when I get home. The other day I was showing my friend Melody this file & was I  shocked at just how many I have accumulated over the last little while. She, also a scrapper, lit up & said, “So, when are these going in to a book for your nearest & dearest, dahling?” hahaha! Well I don’t know about the book but as for my nearest & dearest that would be all you gorgeous people who faithfully read & comment on our blog!

So compliments of Moi! to you…here is a sketch that I hope you will find very helpful.

With halloween & thanksgiving around the corner, I thought I’d mix it up a bit & focus on something I am SO grateful I had the opportunity to pursue for half my life.  I used the new Twilight Collection & a bit from the Amber Road Collection from Pink Paislee to do it. Up until I got married & had children, Flamenco dancing was a HUGE part of my life; this page is to remember my love of the dance.

Using Twilight – Horizon 00219, I cut myself a frame & overlayed Twilight – Sunset 00215 inside as my base page. For my scalloped strips I used Amber Road – Bonfire 00205Amber Road – Fall Festival 00207 . For the flower sprinkles, I cut out a few flowers from Amber Road – Autumn Blossom 00202 & using an Amber Road – Patches 00210 I made a little flower layered with tulle (Kimmi’s brilliant idea see this post for details) .

The big flower on the right hand side is layers of gauged tissue paper with the center filled with tiny pearl beads. I even snuck a journal block under the flower from the New Cupid line – Postcards 00242. A bit of journaling & stitching & all done!

Well that’s my post for today…I hope you can make use of it.

Have a super weekend!
