Sunday Sketch

Good Morning Everyone! It’s been a great week for me and I hope it is for you too. :)

It’s sketch day again and I’m happy to show you what I did with my sketch using a mix of Queen Bee and 365 Degrees. Just a couple of months ago, my best friend Alicia finally got married to the love of her life. I’ve been waiting for years for her to get hitched and I’m truly happy she’s now happily married to her best friend Jeff! It was truly a beautiful wedding, a simple affair but worth a lifetime memory. I was one of her “unofficial” photographers and I’m using one of the pictures I took of them in the church in this layout.

Here’s the sketch that I came out with.

And here’s my layout, which I intend to give them as a post-wedding gift even though I’ve already made them many other gifts.

I love how the Queen Bee and 365 Degrees collections compliment the picture so well and I’m so glad I have them with me. I cut out and popped up the Bee Hive die cut paper as the centre frame of the page and used the Daydream paper from 365 Degrees as the background, which adds a contrast to the whole layout. I created a collage using the 365 Degrees Flip Notes and Queen Bee’s products, the Honey Bee (flourish cutouts) and Worker Bee papers, Punch Outs Die Cut, Ribbon Pleats, Cork Buttons, Bellas Brads and I used the Expressions Ambrose Alphabets “Licorice” for the title “Journey”.

So, do you have any pictures that you think it would look great with these collections? Once they hit the store in March, which is real soon, get ready to grab them, create something worth remembering and don’t forget, you can use this sketch to create as many layouts as you want! If you can’t wait, just share with us and post a link in the comment box what you did with this sketch with any other Pink Paislee’s collection. We would love to see them! :)

Have a great Sunday and thank you so much for dropping by!

another take 5 Friday!

Hi everyone,

Amanda Muirhead here with my very first blog post since joining the creative team at Pink Paislee (someone pinch me!).  I was pretty excited to learn that my first blog post would be on a Friday.  I think the Take 5 Friday idea was made just for me. I’m the kind of gal who loves to use lots of lots of product on my page so 5 was easily attained. Actually, I think I used closer to 10 products but who’s counting that closely!?!

This layout is about how happy it makes me to watch my daughter, Larissa, just playing. I snapped this photo of her during an unusually warm Canadian November.

When I am creating a layout, I always reach for the die cut paper first. I am just drawn to any shape other than a square. I love the flip notes and the die cuts for creating all those fun layers. The pleated ribbon…oh I could go on and on about it. I don’t own a (working) sewing machine right now so it’s just perfect that Pink Paislee has done all the hard work for me. I just need to glue it down. Here are some more products that I used on this layout: 365 Degrees Borderlines Clear, 365 Degrees Bella Brads, 365 Degrees Punch Out Die Cut Tags, Expressions Weather Wood – Cotton Chipboard Alphabets and Artisan Tape Orange and Expressions Whimsies Alphabets – Pear

Thank you for taking the time to stop by.  Be sure to show off what you make using your favourite Pink Paislee products at LivePink!

Word it Wednesday

Hi everyone its Word It Wednesday with me, Malin!
This has to be one of my favorite blog themes because it seems like the possibilities are endless and it just kick started my creativity!
I thought long about which word i should scrap about.. At first i wanted to do a sort of new years resolutions page and then started to play with the word year in my head. I thought about what i wanted for this year and that lead me into thinking about something that is in my thoughts a lot right now.
I decided to scrap about it even though its not an easy subject, but its good to get your thoughts down on paper and to scrap about hard things also, it gives a sense of relief..

For about one year ago we decided that it was time to try to have another child i was so excited about trying to give the little girl here a brother or a sister.
My joy when the + sign came up on the pregnancy test was endless.. Unfortunately it ended up with a miscarriage. And so did the following pregnancy.  I still hope for another baby even though the whole process is a bit more scary now. And this is what the word Year ended up with to scrap about my feelings the last year and how i still have faith in getting another little one.

I have used mostly things from the queen bee collection, it is so gorgeous  and i love the color palette in it, from dark chocolate to light yellow green hues, and many of the papers has patterns that you can cut out and use as decorations. It gave a contrast to my photo that has a lot of pink in it. I still wanted some pink on my layout so i punched out some butterflies and added the fun new cork buttons as centers for them!

I took one of the borders from the Borderlines Clear Stickers and since my papers where so dark i decided to let the sticker stay on the sheet i cut around it and added it to my page as a border

And if you get inspired from the blog themes don’t forget to add your  Pink Paislee projects to the live pink gallery!!

Have a great Wednesday everyone

Tuesdays Title – Handcutting Is Easy

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines weekend.  My husband had to work, so we’re celebrating with a weekend out of town next weekend, but I had a very special little Valentine – a four year old who loves chocolate, posing for me, and blowing kisses…

For this layout, I wanted to do a handcut title.  I wrote the word “kiss” on patterned paper, then cut out around my pencil lines. I used a small piece of Love Potion from the Cupid line for the title, because I had a scrap of it.  After I had the word cut out, I erased my pencil lines and adhered it to the bottom portion of my layout.  Be very careful not to tear your word when adhering, as some parts of your word may be very thin.

To add even more detail, I added machine stitching over my letters.  This took a lot of patience and caution, to be sure that I didn’t stitch off of my letters.  I went at a super slow space and did close stitches in narrow places.  I imagine this might be a little less complicated if you handstitched, just a little more time involved.

Everything here is Pink Paislee except for the black square letters.  I love that each of the lines are versatile and can be mixed for any theme or type of project.

Have a wonderful week!

Saturday Sketch with Queen Bee

Hello Everyone! Karola here, in my first post on the Pink Paislee blog, so I’m a little nervous, but most I am thrilled!

Today we have a Saturday Sketch theme on the blog, so I would like to show you which sketch I chose, and what I did with it. Can you believe it that I working with sketches since the beginning of this year!?
Previously I always creating layouts in recesses of my head from A to Z, but now playing with sketches gives me a lot of fun, especially as it gives a lot opportunities to interpretation and do not need to reproduce the sketch in every detail, but think creatively!
To create my Lo I took the sketch from Pencil Lines #106, by Anna Bowkis. I chose it because it contains elements which I like very much – layering and flourishes that can be interpreted in a few different ways – I have decided that they will be floral motifs.
Also I’ve used here my favorite techniques – layering and hand cutting details – The New Queen Bee collection is perfect for this – beautiful designs with floral motifs are perfect for cutouts and creating your own embellies! Yes, I know this is a hard work and time spent technique, but believe me, that the effect is worth it!
Because the Queen Bee is very elegant and has a delicate colors, I decided to add some girly accents – a little red from the Cupid line. To create another layer I’ve used Love Potion paper, and from Hearts Bloom I cut off the flowers and circles.
In addition to papers I’ve used the clear stamps Queen Bee – Impressions Clear Stamps, bees have been perfect here! Why? Because that Lo is inspired by the “My Girl” movie (1991), and the song performed by The Temptations – I love both the movie and the song, so the text typed in the form of journaling using the tag from the Queen Bee – Punch Outs Die Cut Tags. I tried to show how a wonderful gift for me is my daughter, with all her flowers (her charm and beauty) and the bees (her rebellious nature)!
Thank you for your attention and see you again soon!
