Technique Tuesday

Hi there!  Stacey here, all giddy about this first post for my favorite company, Pink Paislee!

I am a girl who is big into themes.  I think it must be the elementary school teacher in me!  When creating a page, I like to use colors, embellishments and titles that relate to the theme of my layout.  When it came time to scrap about my daughter’s polka-dotted coat, I instantly knew that I wanted to use circles around my page (that’s a no-brainer, right?).  But…I also had the idea to replicate the crisscross belt loops that are on the back of her coat.  I thought it would be an interesting design element!

Here is the technique I used to create the crisscross effect on my layout.  First, I applied one of the Bayberry Cottage Borderline Stickers.  That became the guide for where to place my X’s.  If you look in the center of each shape, you will notice a diamond.  I simply used every other diamond as the center of each X.  Speaking of my crisscrosses, I created mine using the new Artisan tape.  This stuff is so easy to work with!  I simply folded 2 ¼” pieces in half vertically, inked the edges and then laid two pieces down to make each X.

To keep the design clean, I tucked the ends of each X under scalloped borders, one on the top and one on the bottom.  Imagine that being like the seam of the coat.  For the finishing touches, I cut out scalloped circles from the Picket Fence paper and placed one in the center of each X.  Attach a Bella Brad and you have a fancy crisscross!

There you go, a technique for how to use the Artisan tape on your next scrappy project!  Happy creating!
