We are back with another peek into the studio space of our creative team member Roree Rumph. Roree makes paper crafting look effortless and even though I know it isn’t that easy; she does do a great job of inspiring me to use colors in new ways as well as use products in ways I never dreamed of. It is such a joy to be able to see the “scrap space” that she creates in day after day. To learn more about Roree please stop by her blog HERE.
of course we asked roree a few questions; so let’s learn more about her:
Scrapbook style: I have a hard time trying to describe my own style. I am never exactly sure what to call it. So, I asked a few of my scrappy friends to help me, and this is what they said: “I would say you are in step w/ current trends w/ a unique twist. You are a clean scrapbooker w/ attention to details. Always looking for new ways to bring inspiration to others.” and “I always think bright, bold and colorful when I think of your work. And you always have gorgeous stitching. If I had to sum you up I’d say ‘bright homespun chic.’ ” Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?
Inspiration: Color is a huge inspiration. If I don’t like the colors I am working with, I don’t feel inspired to create. Also, another of my favorite sources of inspiration is scrapbook magazines. I love to see how other people use products… how they put things together. I love looking at magazines. I can take them anywhere and not be tied down to my computer.
Favorite Product: I would have to say patterned paper. As much as I would like to say some sort of embellishment like buttons, flowers, or ribbon, paper is what I buy the most of and there is just so much you can do with it.
One Wish: I can’t tell you, or it won’t come true.
Favorite Movie: I love Adam Sandler, so just about anything with him in it. My kids and I just watched one of our faves, 50 First Dates, just the other night.
Guilty Pleasure: Starbucks, definitely. I have a grande two pump white chocolate mocha 6-7 times a week.
Favorite Memory: The first night I met my husband. Long story short, I was set up on a blind date with him, and we didn’t really hit it off. The actual night in question is not really my favorite memory, but it did lead to something great. Without it, we may not have ended up together at all. About a year or so went by and I started seeing him around at parties and with friends. We started to get to know each other, and after almost 20 years and 17 years of marriage, the rest is history.
First Job: I worked at the Auburn University library in the Special Collections department. It was perfect for a new college student. I had lots of free time to study.
Music: I love alternative/new rock. I keep a playlist on my blog with some of my favorite music.
Typical Day: I am very lucky to be a stay at home mom, so there is nothing too exciting going on in my normal day. My husband works out of town all week, so it is usually just me and the kids Monday-Friday. My day usually starts at around 6:30am. I get the kids up and ready, I take them to school, and stop and get my morning coffee. Then, I am back home to play on the computer and work on projects. I am usually back and forth between the computer, scrapping, and normal household chores and errands all during the day. The kids get home in the afternoon, we go over homework, and some days we have things like softball practice or games to go to. We have dinner together and watch a little TV afterwards. Then, it is bed time for the kids. By then, I am usually ready for a little peace and quiet. The weekends are totally different when my husband is added back into the dynamic, and we are out and about a whole lot more.
Signature Piece of Clothing: I am not a fashionista by any means. I live in jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers pretty much every day. Very casual.
about roree’s space:
I am very lucky to have my very own dedicated scrapbook space. It is actually our formal dining room, but since we are not formal kind of people, we really didn’t have a need for it in that capacity.
On the one side of the room, I have to bookshelves from IKEA to keep the majority of my supplies, tools, finished projects, and magazines. There is a comfy chair in the corner the occasional visitor.
In the other corner is my desk. I have it set up in a U shape, which works very well for me. Everything is easy to reach.
Above my desk, I installed some shelve to display photos and more finished projects.
I keep the supplies such as cardstock and patterned paper that I use frequently under my desk, so that they are easily accessible while I am working.
I also have a large picture window which is perfect for watching the kids play outside while I work.
Hope you all enjoyed the little tour of my scrap space!
