Monochromatic Monday

Monochromatic color schemes work for several reasons.  Design choices are easier when you are picking one common color because there is no need to make everything match.  There is a flow of the eye when everything is the same shade of color.  Finally, using a monochromatic background is a great way to make photos or small embellishments pop right off the page.

When I saw recent photos of my son and noticed the dark tones, I knew that creamy yellows would be the perfect compliment.  Look at how the pictures are the clear focal point!  I simply grabbed different shades of yellow papers, Punch-outs and Flip Notes from the Queen Bee collection, and then started layering.  If you look closely, you will notice an oldie-but-goodie paper from one of my all time favorite Pink Paislee collections, Vintage Moon.  Here is the layout!

Because of the monochromatic color scheme, I wanted there to be texture on my page. So I grabbed some cork buttons and used them around the page. I cut one of the square ones to create the photo corners. Finally, I finished off my details with an Artisan swirl, which I shaded yellow with a colored pencil. So easy to work with!

Grab your Pink Paislee yellows, reds, oranges or greens today and give monochromatic a whirl!
