Sunday Sketch: Make it a Double

Happy Halloween everyone!  I am sure those of you who celebrate are planning to take lots of photos of the festivities. We host a casual family get-together where a large group of us have a big pot of stew and many laughs. It concludes with the kiddos getting dressed…seeing them in their costumes is sure to make everyone smile. In order to accommodate all my photos, I decided to create a double pager. It is a great way to showcase the many aspects of the day and to put Pink Paislee products to good use!

Many people struggle with double pagers, but they really aren’t that difficult…especially when you have a fabulous sketch to inspire you! The sketch that sparked my layout is by Becky Fleck over at PageMaps. Here it is:

It is actually meant to be used to do a double page with 8.5 X 11 papers, but I adapted it. Here is my take:

I like to have a common element run across both pages when I do doubles so I utilized the Spider’s Lair shaped paper to accomplish this.

I simply cut out the middle so just the frame remained. I then cut that frame into four sections. I used two of them along the bottom of my layout!

I used a Clear card and the very awesome glitter stickers to create the cobweb embellishment…it adds a bold touch to the layout! I created a visual triangle to lead the eye around the page, using glitter stickers in two additional spots. Did I mention how addicted I am to those glitter stickers?

Here are the rest of the products used:
1. Hocus Pocus Papers: Spider’s Lair, Haunting, Hocus Pocus, Witching Hour
2. Hocus Pocus Press-ons
3. Hocus Pocus Doodads
4. Hocus Pocus Clear Cards
5. Hocus Pocus Metal Badges
6. Hocus Pocus Glitter Sticker Elements
7. Alphabets: Expressions Cushies in Cocoa and the sticker alphabet from the Craft Kit

Be sure to put the sketch to good use and share your results with us over at Live Pink!

Take Five Friday

Hello everyone! Karola here again with another project created with fantastic Hocus Pocus collection ! I hope that our month of Hocus Pocus inspired you to create a lot of wonderful layouts, cards and altered items, not just in theme of Halloween. My DT friends have already shown how you can use a great Halloween theme collection to create something not related to Halloween. Today I also show you a project, that is not a Halloween theme, but … I think it will be a little surprising.
Today we have Friday and as tradition says I should use only 5 Pink Paislee products. So I chose a few of those that inspired me to create Lo with me in the main role. Does everybody has a dark side of youself? I think so! Sometimes we do or say foolish things, and sometimes we have bad days, sometimes we are really mad – then we show a piece of our dark side.
I found my pictures, which look different than usual, quite dark and mysterious – there is no place for pastels and delicate accessories! I wanted to show my dark side (LOL! Maybe a little darker than the pastels) – that I love horror movies, love to read thrillers, that sometimes I want to revel in the rhythm of punk rock, sometimes I’m crazy. Not everyday. Sometimes!

I found two photos, so one of them, the smaller ones – I wanted to stand out in some way. I used for this Hocus Pocus – Adornment Frame . I remove a green plaque from the inside and in this place pasted a photo. I put green plaque in the another place of layout! Let’s see:

As you can see here – Usage  Hocus Pocus – Clear Cards for interesting photo matting! I think it’s a great way to highlight our photos!

Get To Know Guest Artist: Sue Mylde

Hello Pink Paislee fans!

October is a doubly exciting month for me because not only do I get to be Guest Designer here at the Pink Paislee HQ, but earlier this month our family welcomed a new baby boy! Baby Lucas is doing really well and now he’s making his debut on my scrapbooking pages using a fabulous mix of Pink Paislee’s Parisian Anthology and Sweetness Collections.

Just a little bit about me: I’m passionate about scrapbooking, reading, travelling and spending as much time as possible with my family of four. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two children, Lara and Lucas.

I’m always looking for ways to be creative and adding that bit of fun in our lives. Scrapbooking is my way of recording the precious memories and stories that we create in our daily lives and I’ve delighted myself in the role of storyteller of my family’s adventures. Our family has been blessed to have lived in different countries across the world including Canada, Norway and now Scotland – and our lives are colored by the cultures and traditions of the places we’ve been and the people we’ve met.

My scrapbooking style evolves constantly. I love trying different things, but I often go for elegance, simplicity, a bit of daring and a lot of fun. I currently serve on the design teams for Cocoa Daisy and The Studio.

Thank you so much to Rebecca and Pink Paislee for letting me create for them this month! It has been so much fun!

xoxo.Sue.

Word It Wednesday ~ Candy!

The countdown is on for the big spooky eve… just 4 more sleeps!  The most exciting part about Halloween for my daughter is getting to eat as much candy as she wants for the whole evening.   Candy seemed a very fitting title for this Word it Wednesday layout.

I had so much fun creating this layout with the Hocus Pocus line which has all kinds of fun embellishments to make great Halloween layouts.   I really love the Glitter Sticker Elements.  They are so versatile and easy to work with. If you leave the spiders and bats as is, they are kinda spooky. I wanted a more childish feel to mine so I added some tiny googly eyes which made them really cute.  The 12×12 sticker sheet that comes in the Hocus Pocus Collection Craft Kit has these wonderful banner stickers.  To give them some dimension, I adhered them with pop dots and added a little bit of embroidery floss to the top. The banner stickers are great for adding your title to. It just helps your title to stand out a little more and give it that extra little bit of dimension and  visual interest.

Have An Arsenic Sketchy Sunday!

Hi there, Ania here with a lettersize-sketch which I turned into a 12×12 for my purpose :)

I printed out four photos, then started looking for a sketch that would fit them. At PageMaps (an excellent source for sketches) I found this (from the May-archives) which would fit my purpose. I just needed to do a minor correction to the sketch..

Namely, mirror it before starting :) When I start on a sketch I usually figure which “way” I want to do the sketch, then stare on it intently before putting the sketch away & work on my project. That way I feel somewhat free from the sketch while also having a basic starting point.

I used both the 12×12 and 6×6 papers from the Hocus Pocus-line.

I hate wasting – this bottom half of a clear card was a leftover, and I figured I might as well use it here.

For the backgroundpaper itself – I cut it approx an inch (or well, maybe half?) from the edge w/a craft knife – all the way around – then adhered both papers to a sheet of cardstock, sewed the edges then worked them some.

For the journaling-tag I sprayed a tag w/orange glimmer mist, cut it in half then rubbed rub-ons from Bayberry Cottage on one half while using the other upon for the journaling itself.

Gah I love metal badges!! Combined w/stickers here…

Fun layering: Flip note, 6×6 papers, sticker, Artisan Ornament, Doodad..

So while you can recognize the setup from the sketch, I think my layout turned out pretty personalized, and I had fun working on this layout – yay! :)

Materials used:
Hocus Pocus – 12×12 paper, 6×6 paper pad, stickers from the kit, metal badges, doodads, flip notes, clear cards
Artisan Elements – Ornaments
Old School – Glitter Sticker Alphabets
Expressions – Cushies Alphabets in lemonade
Bayberry Cottage – press ons

Hope you enjoyed this layout :)
