Shades of Grey

Don’t you love how elegant monochromatic palettes can be? :)

The Parisan Anthology-collection is just perfect for customizng; here I’ve chosen the color (or, is it a color? If black and white are normally not counted as real colors, then what is grey?) grey – from bright, almost white grey, to dark, almost black grey.

I love the effect you get by shaking your bottle of mist, opening the bottle (remove the spray-top) and just dip a brush into the mist to paint the color onto your paper. Use quick, broad strokes, don’t try to cover the whole paper, leave visible brushstrokes – it’ll give the paper a lovely look :)

The fleur-de-lis comes from Tattered Angel, and comes with a raised, embossed pattern. If you paint this w/colored mist, it’ll be more visible. However, I decided to paint this in white chalk, to strengthen the whiteness of the chipboard. I punched small holes in the chipboard with my crop-a-dile so that I could attach this Brooch Brad to it. The whole chipboard is adhered to soft, silverygrey ruffled ribbon that I sewed so it would turn into a rosette :)

I love that you get so many tickets (100!) in one roll of the Parisan Anthology Tickets! Makes me less hesistant to use them – and they’re great used in multiples :) Here they’re stapled to a Parisan Anthology Note :)

Love the different shades of grey depending on how many brushstrokes there are, and the pattern that turns more and more visible with each stroke.

Here’s a second, lighter card using a more silvery grey mist mixed with some darker greys in the embellishments.

Who says you have to sew close to the edge? Use your sewing machine to create a subtle, inner frame :)

Bakers Twine, oh how I love thee…I so need more color-combos! Notice how I added some smaller, dark grey splotches on the ticket aswell? :) Again, I decorated stuff on the small Parisan Anthology Note :)

Using punched butterflies from another Parisan Anthology-paper painted with dark grey mist :) It truly makes it pop up, don’t you think?

I love dimensional layering :)

Materials used:
Parisan Anthology: Notes, Patterned Papers, Brooch Brad, Tickets, Ruffled Ribbon
Artisan Elements: Borders
Other: Glimmer Mist (chalkboard chalk, silver and graphite), chipboards from Tattered Angels, butterfly-punches from Martha Stewart, flower from Petaloo, sewing machine, Bakers Twine off etsy, scrap dots from Helmar

Thanks for looking, and don’t forget – it’s soon time for Pink Paislee’s 12 Days of Christmas!

Are you ready? I sure am! :)

Sunday Sketch ~ Waiting on Santa

Welcome to the Pink Paislee blog.  Today is Sunday Sketch day and I will be showing you a layout that I created using a beautiful sketch from Page Maps (November).   I decided to do a festive layout since Christmas in less than a month!   Thanks to the versatility of the Parisian Anthology Collection I was able to create a bright red & green papers that suited my theme perfectly.

To tint the papers red and green, I used a variety of ink pads with similar shades and applied the ink using sponges.

The flower in the  Parisian Anthology Flair Variety Pack was easy to tint green. I simply applied green alcohol ink with a little brush.  It quickly dried and made the piece of flair stand out against the neutral background.  I also used the Parisian Anthology Clear Stamps on several areas of this layout. I used the tiny round image as a layer on top of the tinted flair and the decorate strips on the paper layer beneath my title and just above my photo. I used soft coloured inks so that my stamped images were a little more subtle, especially the images on the background paper.

The beautiful glitter sticker elements and alphabets are the perfect way to add a touch of sparkle to Christmas projects and layouts. I used the green glitter sticker elements because the numbers fit well with my countdown to Christmas/waiting for Santa theme.

Parisian Anthology Ruffled Darlings Ribbon Strips

Get To Know Guest Artist Becky Olsen

Hi!  My name is Becky Olsen, I live in Cottonwood Heights Utah and I am a craft-a-holic…

Thank goodness I have a very understanding husband, four fabulous kids (that are often the subjects of my craftiness), and a special room all to myself for all of the tools and goodies that enable my passion. I have been lucky to have lived a very creative life – from making clothes for my Barbie dolls as a young girl, keeping very important pieces of my teenage life in a magnetic album (gasp, the horror!!) to crocheting more blankets, hats and scarves than I can count. Making a layout from one of my favorite pictures or a card for a special occasion is often how I can be found exercising my creative muscles. Finding beautiful color combination’s, fantastic pattern pairings, delicious textures and elaborate dimensions on each new project makes me giddy with joy.

When I am not in my craft studio making a mess I am usually either playing tennis, on a long walk with my husband and dogs, or carpooling the kids.

I am so excited to have a chance to share my love for Pink Paislee and maybe inspire a few fellow craft-a-holics along the way. Many thanks to Rebecca and the Pink Paislee team for the opportunity to play with the stunning Parisian Anthology line.

Becky’s Designs For Pink Paislee (featuring the Parisian Anthology Collection)

What we are about to show you is an amazing display of versatility with our Parisian Anthology collection. When we asked Becky to create 3-4 projects for our blog we had no idea she would send back so many gorgeous creations to show off here today.  She completely outdid herself and as we reviewed her work we realized just how far she pushed these products!  Becky shows us just how fun and “inky” you can get with this collection while making them unique to her very own designs and creations!

We are going to start off with a mini album Becky created using the re-usable corrugated box that contains the Parisian Elements as her album container.  It will be impossible to see every page but we are going to show some highlights here for you!

Project #1 – A Hike To Remember

Tip: You can re-purpose and re-use the corrugated box from our Parisian Alphabets and Elements.

Tip:  Ink these papers and then die cut them into shapes like Becky did with these fall themed leaves.

The color combo in this entire album is breathtaking!

Loving how Becky used the Parisian Elements as accents throughout her entire album.

Project #2 – 19

This time Becky went with some cool tones to play off of her black and white photo.  We love how she added color behind the clear molds from the variety pack.

Project #3 – So Lucky

Becky really shows us how these papers come to life when you add inks and misting sprays!  Music notes, butterflies, text and more. Make them bold or soft….your choice!

Project #4 – There was this one time…

Well I have to admit…this is one of my favorite projects.  The inked circles that are stitched and placed on this page to create a background pattern just blows me away!   We are in awe of what she has created visually on this layout.

Tip:  Go ahead and ink the edges of the corrugated elements too!  They dry quick!

Project #5 – Feel Better Soon

Project #6 – Flower Fun!

Tip: Create Wearable art using the soft chiffon flowers from this collection.  Just add velcro to the back and position them on a headband!  Hmm….I wonder if she is selected that grey shirt just to match these gorgeous flowers???

Whew…I am on inspiration overload!  Becky….THANK YOU SO MUCH for designing with such passion and creativity for us this month.  We are delighted to feature your work here on the Pink Paislee blog.

To learn more about Becky please visit her blog HERE – I am sure she would be happy to hear from you!
