Simple Stories – “Know This”

I found these old photos of myself from junior year of high school (in 2002!) while rummaging through my old room at my parents’ house and thought of how much i’ve changed in the last 9 years. I decided to do a “note to past self” layout with these photos, with some tidbits I wish I knew at that age.

Here’s a close-up of the journaling:

I went with a list format for my journaling, making a list of 4 things I would tell my 16-year-old self. I love creating hand-drawn journaling lines on my layouts, but I wanted to switch it up a bit for this one, so I decided to created journaling lines by stitching with the twine from the Daily Junque line!

I used mostly Daily Junque stuff on this page, and most of my page is embellished with bits and pieces cut from the patterned paper. I was inspired by the ephemera going down the left side of the Tickets paper and created a similar look to the left side of my page. I added some fun rhinestones to the mix to add a bit of sparkle.

Try journaling to your past (or even future) self…it’s a fun way to journal!

Studio Tour Featuring Carole Janson

Our Studio Tours are back and this year we will be showing off the scrap spaces from the newest members of our Design Team!  Right now we are going to take a look into the Studio Space that is occupied by Carole Janson.  At first glance it looks like a complete scrapbook store!  I am pretty sure I could camp out here for  a while just to admire all of the products she has on display.  One of the first things I noticed as I looked into this space was how fun it is that  Carole has infused so much color into her “white space.”  We also love those custom shelves.

About Carole’s Studio:

I have waited so long to get a space just for me, and I finally have it, I have been in my Scraproom for about a year now and I absolutely love it, it is my little hideaway.

This is a photo of my scraproom just before I unpacked all my stash, that was the best day.

Here it is now full lol !! I am still pitching myself, this is my work station well that is what Mike calls it, I have everything open, because I love to see everything, and I find I work better that way. I have an air conditioner, intercom, phone, TV on either side of the desk, and of course internet yipee, and yes it is all from a Shed, I get 1/4 of this huge shed that now occupies our backyard, Mike (Hubby) was so wonderful, he has done so much work on this for me.

I had my gorgeous work station and my paper shelves made by a local cabinet maker which I absolutely love.

My ceiling is really really high in my scraproom, so there is plenty of air and light, just love it. As you can see plenty of space to put all my boxes and projects.

My desk has two sides to it with the same things such as TV’s, power and lighting and internet, there is also enough room in my scraproom for a small table in the middle if needed.

Now here you can see my wonderful, wonderful paper shelves I just love them they are unreal, couldn’t ask for anything better, and just above the shelves is my Peg board which holds all my products, and I love it because I can see everything I own, and what I need when making a project.

I love my cake stand it holds all my flowers, buttons and brads, just too cute, and because the tins have a magnetic back, they hold really well onto the cake stand.

I also have a shelve/ribbon holder which is amazing and holds all my stamps, paints ribbons and some of my flowers.

Mike also tinted my windows to stop fading of my products and projects which was a wonderful idea.

Well I hope you liked checking out my Scraproom, I am definitely loving it!

Let’s Get To Know Carole:

What is the one word that describes your scrapbook style and why? Dimensional – Because nothing I create is flat, I love to create something that you want to touch, and stands out with plenty of layers.

What inspires you to get creative? New Products for sure, new pattern papers, embellishments, they are just so beautiful I can’t wait to get scrapping and just have fun.

What is your favorite Pink Paislee product right now? I am loving the Pattern Papers.  They are just so beautiful and they give me so many options to be creative, but I would also have to say all the new embellishments are just stunning, so to be honest I can’t just pick one product, I find Pink Paislee is always so very different that’s what I love the most.

What is something you consider a guilty pleasure? Eating a block of chocolate while scrapping as long as possible !!

What is playing on your ipod? Pink, Gwen Steffani and Michael Jackson.

What is the one thing no one would know about you? I get really really nervous on airplanes, but I still fly.

Name one thing that is on your “bucket list” for the future? I would love to run a Marathon (maybe one day) still in training.

Four Photos That Tell A Story

Good morning everyone!

Nancy here today with a layout using the brand new Hometown Summer collection. I love the bright colors and fun icons in this line. I’m looking forward to using it for all of my pictures this summer.

My assignment is to use four photos in a layout. I decided to use four different pictures to tell a story about my niece and what a good little girl she is.  All of my photos are the same size and include all of the journaling.  I think this  adds uniformity and interesting design to the layout.

My favorite part of the layout is this lollipop that I made by layering a die cut piece, a punch and a pebble from the collection. The white stick is for making chocolate pops and I purchased a bag at my local craft store. I wound a strip of patterned paper to add color to the lollipop. A touch of aqua twine from the Daily Junque collection, completes the embellishment.

I also used some chipboard accents from the Hometown Summer and wood letters from Daily Junque for my title. I added a strip of text with the quote “A little girl…one of the most beautiful miracles in life, one of the greatest joys we can know, and one of the reasons why there is a little extra sunshine, laughter and happiness in your world today. – Author unknown” to complete the layout.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my first summer layout and it inspires you to use lots of photos to tell your story!

Hot Hues! Color Challenge

Hi everyone! I’m back this month with a wonderfully fun Hot Hues challenge. Just in case you missed it last month, hot hues is a new challenge where we give you a picture to use as an inspiration for colors that you can then use on your scrapbook pages. This month’s challenge comes from this amazing picture:

Doesn’t that living room look amazing? I wish mine was so happy and colorful (not to mention so tidy!!) So here are your inspiring colors for this month: honeysuckle, green, teal, salmon, navy and mustard.

As soon as I saw these colors, I knew they’d be perfect for our new Daily Junque collection! This collection is perfect for putting together little bits and pieces of ephemera on your pages and I decided that it was exactly what I wanted to do. Here’s my layout:

As you can see, I mostly used Daily Junque with a few touches from the Sweetness collection. I loved all the bits and pieces along the edges of this paper but I prefer white backgrounds for my layouts, so I cut out all the ones that spoke to me and glued them to the edge of my paper haphazardly. I love the motion, color, and whimsy they add to my page.

Here are a few other things I did on my layout:

Like last month, I colored my white cushies with green ink so they would stand out on my page more and contrast with the pink and yellow alphas I used.

I love using more than one photo on my pages and I have a special sweet spot for photos that tell a story together. In this layout I took four photos that were taken in a row and show my son asking for the camera remote, melting down when I don’t hand it over, and finally all happy once his hands are on it. Even if you didn’t read my journaling, between the title and these photos, you know exactly what story I am scrapping.

Since I often scrap white pages, there’s a tendency for your eye to wander off my page so I often add embellishments to the edges of my page (or edgies as I’ve come to call them) and I often stitch a border to ensure your eye stays within the confines of my layout.

And here’s another look at the border of ephemera I cut from the Daily Junque papers. I didn’t even use any of the embellishments, so it goes to show you how far you can go with just the paper. I love the versatility of this collection!

Finally, here’s a list of all the products I used on this page:

Thank you so much for letting me share my page and I hope this color combination speaks to you as much as it did to me. Make sure to share your pages in the Live Pink Gallery!
