Hometown Summer: Jump In!

I find so much design inspiration by just simply following some of my favorite home decor blogs. One of my favorites is kreyv.com because she takes simple, ordinary items and makes them into something special.

My inspiration piece this week is this beautiful frame filled with a jumble of white wooden letters. I love how random the letter positioning is. They almost look like they are falling.  And that got me thinking…

about summer and how my son, niece and nephew spent the entire time jumping in and out of the pool for the first time. I guess that big “J” up didn’t hurt either.

So I used the same concept to make my title a little more interesting. I like how the letters are literally “jumping in” to the page. I used white embroidery floss to add a bounce line and a place to ground the title. I placed the letter stickers on pop dots so that they would stand out from the busy background.

I cut up the wave patterned paper to make a wide border for my page. I added several layers and inked the edges with a light brown stamp pad for dimension.

This was a fun and easy page to make. The next time you are looking for page ideas, don’t forget to check the home decor sites – you never know just what you might find!

See? These are the kinds of layouts that I just can’t seem to come up with on my own. I LOVE what you’ve done! A blank, white canvas scares me but I do get inspired by others’ creativity. I just hope no one minds if I scrap-lift and cheat a little!
