Mixed Media: having fun with paint

Hi Everyone, Piradee here today and I’ll be sharing with you, some behind the scene details on how I created this layout using the gorgeous Nantucket collection and some of Mistables goodies (fabric flower and misting mask).

One of my favorite item from the Mistables collection are these gorgeous fabric flowers – I love the fact that you can alter these to any color or colors that you need and also once the fabric has dried – it still has that soft touch/feel.  Time to experiment and explore….

And here’s how I managed to cover every inch of the flower without getting my hands dirty (well, maybe a little bit here and there after I took the flower out from the plastic bag).  I first sprayed a bit of water on the flower so that it would absorbed and also allow the different color mists to blend more steamlessly and then I sprayed some mist directly onto the flower, some more in the plastic bag before sealing it. Then it’s onto massaging all that ink everywhere….

Then as I put my flower aside to dry, I used a bit of white paint and the mistable misting mask to create the details/effect on my base pattern paper; adding more subtle textures to the layout.

What I did first, was to cover lightly some parts of the pattern papers with white paint…

Then using the misting mask, I added another layer of paint to the paper. This time I also purposely made some areas blotchy…

And once the mask was removed, I was then left with these subtle images….

Then I completed the page with a few flower cut outs (from the crab cakes pattern paper) and also these must have chipboard tiles. These are honestly my favorite embellishment – the perfect size, shape and that glossy finish… need I say more?
