Like Father, Like Son: Perfect 6 x 6 papers

Hello everyone, and welcome to day one of our focus on Father and Son projects.  This is a subject dear to my heart, since my husband and I have one adorable 7 year old scallywag of a son.

For my project today, I worked with the Prairie Hill range.  My favorite paper in the range is the quilted chevron design and I wanted to feature this paper in my layout as it has such a warm and comforting feel to it, which is perfect for a layout highlighting a relationship such as between a father and son.  I thought that the 12×12 design was a little large for what I had in mind, so decided to go with using 2 sheets of the 6×6 paper pack to fill the right hand side of the layout.  I think that the smaller scale of the 6×6 paper print is just perfect.

I love these photos of my husband and son that we recently had taken by Janine Kaye of Janine Kaye Photography.  They capture the loving, but teasing, relationship that they share.

Because I used a busy patterned paper background for the layout, I kept the embellishments simple.  I created a small cluster with one of the Prairie Hill Shipping tags, an Accolade sticker, title and some hessian and twine.  The rustic feel of hessian and twine work really well with this range.  I used an element sticker mounted on foam tape to finish the centre of the Accolade sticker.

I hope the projects this week inspire you to either scrap a layout about a father and son relationship, or make a Father’s Day project.

Have a great day!
