Hi, It’s Leslie Ashe here sharing my first creation using Valerie Salmon’s Got Sketch? and I have to tell you…
I have a crush. I have a BIG crush on Pink Paislee’s Secret Crush. The colors are so lush! Not to rhyme or anything, but seriously. I could swim in the delicious colors of this collection. The soft natural tones with punches of pink and red. What’s not to love?! My favorite thing about Secret Crush is the fact you can scrapbook anything. Be it a boy page, a girl page, a family page or just anything you love.
I went for a boy project using my son who is no longer a teenager, but a full fledged 20 year old
boy man. No matter his age, he’s still my baby (mainly due to the fact he’s the youngest):
My title came from a book I used to read to my son and daughter. “Love You Forever, Like You For Always…” I decided to journal some of the song on the left side of my die cut heart, with the rest at the bottom of the page. My own journaling is in black on the side, as a border.
To make his photo stand out, I turned it black and white. The pops of red draw you right to his face.
Layering is one of my all time favorite techniques you can see all through my layout, I’ve layered hearts upon hearts. I love the dimension, the texture, the feel of it. It’s easy using pop dots to make them any level you want on the page, without overcrowding.
I used the Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spritz to add color to my Artisan hearts and arrows for that added “pop” –
The Artisan border under his photo is colored by my silver Zig paint pen. I also colored the above “love” using my silver paint pen.
I also decided to frame my entire layout by drawing in black just where the gorgeous patterned paper meets the cardstock.
Secret Crush is just delicious and all the little things packed into this collection really make projects shine. I used many details from the fabulous sketch by Valerie Salmon (Got Sketch.blogspot.com) and had the best time creating this layout making it my own by adding a few things here and there.
Thank you for checking out my sweet boy today.
