Hello, it’s Karola here with my first Pink Paislee blog post this year. I am so thrilled to sharing with you a couple of my Valentine cards, especially because I am totally in love with the Secret Crush Collection, and I will strongly encourage you to focus on some gorgeous motifs from this line!
The shades of white, pink, red, grey and beige are absolutely perfect for Valentine’s Day, it’s obvious. But in Secret Crush is one big thing that I love the most – doily motifs! I have to admit – I am a huge doilies lover and totally love to use all kinds of doily shaped supplies from patterned papers motifs, stamps, dies or just a tissue paper doilies for cakes.
For today’s post I decided to create doily – shaped cards, inspired by stunning doilies from Secret Crush - First Kiss paper. I would not be me, if I had not shared my love for layers and many tiny details.
Because I used 12 x 12 paper for cutting two white doilies, the cards are quite large, but it’s okay, because we have more space to decorate! As you can see in the picture below, I cut out a few different doilies, I used small scizzors for precise cutting, but you can use scalloped circle die as well.
To create a filigree look, I cut a few small holes on the edges of first doily, using circle punch.
Then I added a card base to my doily, which was a little bit smaller than motif I was used. For create round shape card, I always use an old CD/DVD and a pen. Just draw a circle shape on folded card base and cut it out.
I wanted to create very layered cards with lots of details – as always. The Valentine’s Day is perfect occasion to add even more attention to details, like a lots of tiny hearts and perfect personal finishing. My cards are decorated by Secret Crush Paper Goods, Elements Stickers and Photo Tabs – I combined all that stunning stuff and adhered almost all pieces using 3d foam squares (3mm). Also I added some elements like small doilies and leaves that I cut out using die-cutting machine and dies.
I decided to add finishing touches of tiny dots using 3d white paint and silver glitter glue. I strongly encourage you to finish the details with some mediums. It’s like decorating a cake with icing – lots of fun and also you can easily highlight beauty of this unique collection!
I hope I was able to inspire you by sharing my Valentine’s Day cards. Thank you for visiting Pink Paislee blog today and don’t forget to visit us often for lots of inspiration every day!
