Love Canvas

Hello, it’s Christin here to share with you a Love Canvas.

I usually am a very mixed media light person when it comes to creating. I don’t really like to get too messy and I don’t like to work with projects too long, but this time I actually challenged myself to do both. Why don’t you do this too…using the Secret Crush collection?  I got white, pink and gold fingers while working, but it was actually fun, and the second canvas I made also used the same collection.  The best part about working with canvas is that the project doesn’t need to be perfect.  If you don’t like it, just start over with paper and paint/gesso.  Let’s just say parts of this canvas have been covered several times in the process.

Let me share with you some steps on how I created this piece.

I cut paper in pieces and for this I used mod Mod Podge as my adhesive, I applied it on the canvas and on the papers. I chose to combine the Secret Crush collection with lots of different pieces from the Artisan Collection: Borders, Chipboard Hearts and Stars, Butterflies, Words.  Once it dried, I used a spatula and my fingers to add gesso over the canvas. Next, I put some modeling paste here and there to add some texture. I used some masks and used Distress Ink to color it in pink and black, but covered some of it again with gesso. I mixed more gesso with Primrose Color Shine and even sprayed some of it on the canvas to get different color shades. On the sides, I used some black ink to give it an extra finish.

I used a punch to cut pieces of heart and again used Mod Podge as adhesive both under and on top.  All the Artisan collection products are covered in different Color Shines from Heidi Swapp and some gesso.

I hope you enjoyed my project and are inspired to create, and again, don’t be afraid to remake your project.
