Metallics: Cut It Up!

Welcome back to another “Metallics” post this week! Metallics are so hot right now, and I want to show you how to infuse them into your projects. Gold makes me think of parties: birthdays, weddings, etc, which led me to create this project!

I have an idea for using Pink Paislee’s Luxe Chipboard Placemats a little differently. Cut them up! I know what you are thinking. Yes, it can be scary, but they are so fun, why not use them on MORE than one project and stretch their use? The Placemats are quite large, almost 8×8″ in size so by cutting them up, you can use them for all kinds of projects! I made a gift wrap and card for my first project.

I wrapped a gift box in kraft paper and added the white and black dot Luxe paper over the top. (I probably would have used white paper to wrap the gift if I had it on hand instead of the kraft.) Then I added a pretty ribbon from the craft store. I love this color with the gold! Very springy and would be pretty for a wedding gift. You could dress up a plain white gift bag with this line too. Ooh, that would be fabulous!

Next, I made a little gift card for the top using a glassine bag. You can see I cut the star Luxe Placement down and placed a piece of it on top of my glassine bag. To cut the chipboard, simply score it with your paper trimmer and then trim with scissors. Adhere to the glassine bag. I made my own tag to tuck inside the bag with white cardstock, a strip of gold chevron Luxe paper and punched a scalloped circle at the top. The butterfly clip is from our new Hope Chest collection.

I also added a letter banner to spell out “CHEERS” with twine and some of the gold Luxe Alphas. A Hope Chest phrase sticker finishes it off.

I have one more idea for a card. How about cuttingĀ up the chipboard and creating a little balloon for a birthday card? The chalkboard trend is really fun right now, so I stamped a saying onto dark gray cardstock and embossed it with white embossing powder, then rubbed some white stamping ink over the top. You can see I had a star left over from my project above and it reminded me of a balloon.

A few Luxe rub on dots finish it off.

Don’t be afraid to use your scrapbooking products a little bit differently than what they might be intended for. Make them work for you!

Products used: Luxe line, Hope Chest line.
