Meet Guest Artist: Lisa Dickinson

 LISADICKINSON

“I have to admit I was not that familiar with Lisa Dickinson or her scrapbook projects until now. This is definitely my loss and I wish I had been following her work sooner.  Her projects range from simple to layered with fabulous techniques mixed in between.  She is also quite the fashionista and I loved seeing all the fun outfits she puts together on her blog! Let’s dive right in and learn more about this “hip chick!” – Rebecca

Lisa Dickinson is a graphic designer living in Colorado with her husband, Mike, and her children Hayden and Riely. Her scrapbook designs have been published in various magazines, including Creating Keepsakes; Scrapbooks, Etc.; Scrapbook Trends; and the former Simple Scrapbooks. She currently designs for Jenni Bowlin, Basic Grey, and Lily Bee Design and also has the pleasure of being a ‘Two Peas Garden Girl.’ You might also know Lisa as the author of the ebook Design Workshop from Ella Publishing.

“I loved working with the Luxe line! The sleek, shimmery finishes are so elegant and modern. The simple gold and silver finishes really shine on their own, but are a perfect neutral for mixing with other Pink Paislee supplies.” – Lisa

On my first layout, I mixed together the gold and silver foil cardstock sheets from the LUXE 12 x 12 Paper Pack to create a custom background. I connected the gold stars on the left and the silver stripes on the right with a strip of Artisan Ribbon sprayed with Tinsel Color Shine. Then I layered several stars cut from vellum amongst the gold  stars. My title is a combo of the Luxe gold alphabet stickers and die cut vellum, with the Luxe chipboard arrows setting it off.”

“The Luxe Heart Chipboard Placemat piece was the perfect mask for my next page. I arranged it face-down on a sheet of the Cottage Farms paper and sprayed it with Tinsel Color Shine. Then I used a grey marker to trace the outline of the shape. Once this dried, I added hearts cut from several of the cottage Farms papers, as well as some of the small white hearts from the Artisan Words. This whimsical backdrop was perfect with photos of my baby niece!”

“When I first saw the Luxe collection I immediately thought it would be perfect for documenting a wedding; and even though I am coming up on my 15th wedding anniversary, I dug out one of my ceremony photos to use on this first page. The silver chevron background was a perfect first layer, adding lots of sparkle and shine. Then I layered the Luxe Hearts Chipboard Placemat, a few doilies, and patterned papers from the Cottage Farms collection under my photo. For embellishments, the Portfolio label stickers and a Heidi Swapp flower add romance and softness to the page. I used one of the Artisan words (“forever”) as my title, and while these pieces can be colored and inked, I chose to keep it white to match the soft wedding theme.”

Thanks so much to Pink Paislee for inviting me to be a guest designer this month! I loved working with these fabulous products and am so inspired by the Luxe line!

Great idea of using that one chipboard to spray and decorate. So unusual. Beautiful layouts.
