We always think of a focus on photos when we scrapbook, but an inspired background can do so much to frame and emphasize your photos. And it’s just FUN to play around with different techniques! Here’s my take on an inspired background today:
My base layer is created from a single sheet of Color Wash paper. I misted the entire sheet with water so I could crumple it without tearing it. After I carefully flattened it again I let it dry and then ironed it between layers of a towel. I still ended up mounting it on a thin piece of chipboard to give it stability.
I interspersed lengths of the vellum Color Wash banners and the fabric trims from the Artisan collection, lined in gold, throughout the strips. The softness of the colors helps the layers not feel too heavy or busy even though there are a ton of layers.
I went with a black and white photo so adding other black accents made sense, however I didn’t want the weight of the black to ruin the softness of all that Color Wash beauty. Thin lettering, small touches of rub-ons from the Luxe line, and a few black pearl dots tied up the color scheme perfectly.
