Handmade Holidays: Coin Envelopes

12DAYS_BLOGBANNER

I give lots of gift cards during the holidays…they are a great way to say thank you to teachers, bus drivers, etc, and they make great gifts for those hard-to-buy-for teens on your list.  You can never go wrong with a gift card, especially when they’re wrapped up extra special.  For today’s handmade holiday project I created some simple cards and coin envelopes for my gift cards this year.  They’re quick and easy and you can whip up a stack of them in no time!

 Betsy_1

To make these fun coin envelopes you will want to grab your trimmer and scoring board!  After you get the hang of it you will be making these all the time!  I loved how easy it was to add my sentiments using the Snow Village Stamp set! I used different ink colors to make each one unique.

Betsy_2

To create the gift card holder I just grabbed some cream cardstock and embellished away using the 3D Chipboard shapes, the chipboard stickers from the Kre8v-Kit and lots and lots of stamps!  For more details be sure to grab the project sheet below.

  • Melissa Carlin
    December 10, 2013 - 11:16 am

This one is an easy one for me!! You can bet there will be Home Depot GC for my son’s father, I’m almost positive that there will be either one or all from AC Moore, Michaels and/or Bed Bath & Beyond! I know some people think giving a gift card is impersonal and an “easy” out, but I have to disagree. I would much rather know the person will be getting something he/she actually wants rather then something they will never use or wind up returning for store credit anyways. Also, prepaid credit cards on various denominations are a great gift as they can be used in stores or online.

  • Melissa F.
    December 10, 2013 - 11:25 am

Hopefully there will be many from our local scrapbooking store from my family . Clothes and jewellery are nice but scrapbooking lasts all year and is so much more fun. I try to get my grandchildren together for one day during the holiday, since they all live a fair ways from each other , then we scrapbook and create all day.

    December 10, 2013 - 1:43 pm

I usually purchase gift cards for each of my grown kids – but instead of putting them under the tree, I add them to their stockings. They all look forward to their stockings, even more than presents, I think. They get about 3 gift cards each for restaurants, iTunes, gas cards, etc. I’ll probably have some under the tree, wrapped in cute little gift card holders like yours, because I love them, for my daughters! Will there be any under the tree for me? I hope so – and anything that has to do with scrapbooking makes be happy.

Hmmm . . .this year, for once, we will not be giving any gift cards. I actually found presents for everyone this year! But these envelopes are adorable and I downloaded the instructions for future use.

I always get my daughter a MAC gift card for her makeup and I always create a gift box to put it in, this year I used a band aid box. She keeps all the decorated boxes

Starbucks is always a big hit around our household for gift cards. My kids are still at the age that they would prefer real “gifts” instead of gift cards.

I love these! I’m always looking for new ideas for gift card holders. This year we have Wal-Mart, Mark’s WorkWearHouse, Tim Horton’s, Cineplex Movies and Montana’s gift cards under the tree.
