Mix & Match: Circles

Mix & Match is making a comeback in 2014!  We just love challenging ourselves to create projects using paper patterns from 2 or 3 different pink paislee paper collections. Sometimes the color combinations will surprise you and it is fun to try!

First of all, I thought about the colors I wanted to use. You may know that I love pastels and muted colors a lot, so my choice to use the Color Wash collection was easy as my first choice but then I was quite surprised when I started builing my page using the colorful, happy Hey Kid collection! Yes I did mix them! Just take a look:

I cut out the circle pattern from one of the Hey Kid papers and glued it to the grid base paper also from the Hey Kid collection. The next step was to cover the circles with Color Wash scraps of paper.

Now you can see that it completely changed the color scheme of my page and it matches perfectly with the photo I used. I didn’t entirely cover the Hey Kid circles because I liked seeing the black and cream patterns here and there.

Below is an image of my full layout. I added some stitching and chalkboard chipboard shapes from Hey Kid, along with a 3D photo frame and alphabet sticker from the Color Wash collection as well.

Some details:

The sentiment stickers are also perfect little bits of color here and there!

Thanks for being here today to see how I mixed it up! Give it a try!

collections used: Hey Kid, Color Wash, Sentiment Series
