Hello and welcome to Paper Play, which will be all about keeping the focus on patterned papers! Paper Play blog features will show you different ways to make patterned papers the hero on your projects! We might show you how to fold paper a special way or how to show off your favorite patterned papers!
Today I am showing you how to feature your favorite patterned papers on a layout using a simple, yet dramatic design. And what better way to do that then with the bold and playful papers from the Hey Kid collection!
For my layout, I picked out my 3 favorite patterns (flowers, stripes, and glasses pattern). I used these fabulously bright patterns to make a bold page design on my layout- and I love the way it turned out! And…. it will be very easy for you to recreate since I only used a standard craft ruler!
I simply took the ruler and placed it over the section of the patterned paper I wanted to feature. I wanted my paper piece to be the width of the ruler, so I just traced along both sides of it.
I then placed the ruler at an approximate 45 degree agree from my first trace. Then I hand cut the angled shape and repeated this step 2 more times onto 2 more favorite patterned papers. Then I repeated this step 3 more times using less busy patterned papers (the red, blue, and pink) to layer behind the main pieces.
I layered the red, blue, and pink pieces slightly to the right and behind the flower, stripe, and glasses patterned paper as shown below.
As you can see, creating a bold page element with your favorite papers can be fabulous and fun! Thanks for joining me for Paper Play and I hope I have inspired you to feature your favorite patterned papers on your next layout!
