Welcome to yet another new blog feature for 2014 called: In The Mood! Use our mood boards to get yourself ‘In the Mood’ to scrapbook because we are going to share with you how to use our mood boards as inspiration to create projects that are all your own. Mood boards are a great way to get the creative juices flowing and they are perfect because they coordinate with all of your favorite Pink Paislee paper collections!
This week’s mood board had me reaching for the Color Wash collection: yummy and soft pastels that remind me of spring!
To start, I pulled out all of the products from my Color Wash collection and the Sentiment Series stickers as well. I made sure to feature the vellum borders because they reminded me of the banners in the mood board. The round color swatches in the middle along with the whole party feel of the board led me to create the die-cut prize ribbons (I used the fabulous Pink Paislee prize ribbon die-cut files and my Silhouette machine). And the speckles on the eggs made me want to put dots on the prize ribbons as a little finishing touch!
The Color Wash collection also has some beautiful ombre papers that I thought were perfect for my card backgrounds and below I will show you how I made the fun background design with these papers!
Here is how to make a background like the ones on the above cards…
Using papers from the 6×6 paper pad, I cut the ombre paper almost as big as my card base. I then cut several pieces into 1/2″ strips. I lightly adhered all of the strips in a row over my cardstock base using a small amount of repositionable adhesive. Then I sewed right down the middle of the strips using white thread and a straight stitch. You can make one strip or cover your background with them!
Next I used the flat part of my Silhouette spatula and tucked it underneath the strips of paper. I gently ran the spatula the length of the stitching on both sides making sure to bend the paper strips slightly upwards. I love that this technique adds some dimension to any project! And you could add just one strip of paper using this technique if you were short on time. Thanks for stopping in today! I hope I have gotten you ‘In the Mood’ to scrapbook!
