Hello! Tegan here today with a cheerful wall décor piece for this month’s “Around the House” segment. For my base I used a very inexpensive wooden frame I recently picked up at Michaels. I thought the fun style of the frame matched the fun feel of the Hello Sunshine collection perfectly!
After the long winter we have had in my area – I was more than thrilled to pull out the this happy and colorful collection. Hello Sunshine indeed – this collection was the perfect solution to my winter blues!
To start, I painted my frame pink and when it was dry I backed the opening with the striped paper. I then added a slightly smaller piece of yellow chevron paper in the middle. To embellish the top, I first backed the vellum rainbow with white cardstock. I do love the see-through property of vellum, but in this case I wanted it to be opaque. Before I adhered the rainbow to the project, I added 2 stitches with white embroidery floss. Then I added the puffy sun sticker and a yellow button for dimension.
Even though the umbrella die cut is already super cute, I wanted to add just a bit more detail to it. So again I gave this die cut two little stitches, this time in light blue. And then I added one chipboard heart. It’s as simple as that but oh-so-cute! To embellish the frame’s middle, I adhered the vellum tag over the black ‘Life’ tab. I then added a strip of scallop border punched paper. I then added my 2″x2″ photo, chipboard stickers, and the embellished umbrella.
Lastly, I trimmed 2 long banner pieces from 2 different patterned papers and adhered them underneath the frame’s opening. I again added 2 small stitches in light blue to the die cut heart before I adhered it in place. And then I added a row of buttons around the heart. It’s as easy as that!
