Are you ready for more holiday traditions and activities? Because today’s theme is all about Seasons Greetings! Sending out those holiday cards and dropping them in the mail before it is too late. It is me, or does it feel like Christmas just sneaks up on you? Suddenly it’s just around the corner and I *should* really be making some trips to the post office. That being said, sending out holiday greetings is another December activity that you can include in your daily memory making for this month.
I decided to create a number of cards this year using the Merry & Bright collection and then I had fun actually capturing bits and pieces of my yearly ritual:
I think it will be interesting to look back and see my process “in the works.”
chore task was to collect addresses. A lot my family and friends moved this year, so I chose to use social media spots to collect addresses. I took a picture of my computer screen, but I was also careful not to include anyone that might not want to be in the screen capture (and seen in an online post).
I thought it would be fun to record some of the steps involved in getting my cards out by typing up the list of steps. To add to this pocket I used a foam dot to add a little dimension to the red star in the pocket.
And of course, using one of the 4×4 journaling cards, with a few pieces of ephemera is a great way to fill a pocket when you are out of pictures or ideas!
The cards are of course the star of the show in this spread.
Adding stitching was the finishing touch this pocket needed. I cut my cards down to a little less than 4×4 to accommodate the extra space the dimension needed for elements like the foam silver number.
I trimmed down the picture of my stack of cards and adhered it to a piece of patterned paper that reads neutral so the detail in the picture is not lost. The flag sticker and the silver strip are both neutral enough to add detail without standing out.
I also took a picture of my favourite card and decided at the last minute to include in my spread for future inspiration!
Oh, and one last picture to inspire you before I go. I have the cover of my album embellished with a little bit of matching ribbon and pieces from the ephemera! I topped that off with the 25 from the Foam Foil sticker set. I love how Pink Paislee designed the sequin star big enough that I could decorate right over the top of it without losing any of the sparkle or the shape underneath. Brilliant!
I hope that I have inspired you to capture some of the ritual holiday activities in your December Countdown 2 Christmas! Stop by tomorrow for…
