Countdown 2 Christmas – Day 16

Day16CountdownWelcome to day 16 of Pink Paislee’s Countdown 2 Christmas Event!  If you are just joining us you might want to go back and read all about our 25 day event HERE and HERE.  We want you to be ‘in the know’ about all of the free printables and weekly giveaways!

With school finished for the year and the excitement level at an all time high, what a great time to engage the kids in some Christmas crafting! And it doesn’t have to be complicated! Over the past couple of years we’ve made cards (from scrapping supplies of course), bell ornaments made from egg cartons and candy canes made from pipe cleaners to name a few. Recently my six year old daughter learnt how to make paper snowflakes so we got together and took it to the next crafting level!

My daughter quickly cut several snowflakes from white paper, of varying sizes. We stuck with white as I then let her loose with my Color Shine mists to add some color and shine! She had a blast (she’s crafty like her Mummy!) Of course I snapped a few photos as we went, to add to my Countdown 2 Christmas album.

On the left hand side, I stuck to the 4×4 pockets pages. The gorgeous glittered snowflakes from the Ephemera Pack feature heavily on this spread of course! Lucky you get so many in a pack!

Here’s a closer look at the top left pocket, which actually has a flap that lifts up, simply made from a folded piece of cardstock (4″x8″) with one end tucked into the pocket.

Underneath the flap I added an extra photo as well as one of my daughters smaller snowflakes. I also got her to write her name and age to add to the panel. This will be fun to look back on in years to come!

I kept the bottom two pockets quite simple, just adding a few stickers and embellishments. For the bottom left pocket, I wanted to add some red glittered stars but the stars in the Ephemera pack were a bit to large! No problem – I die cut some smaller stars from them instead!

Using a canvas page as my base for my right hand page, I actually added a large snowflake that I cut from a piece of patterned paper! My daughter was so impressed with my paper snowflake making skills! (Sssshh . . a quick search on Pinterest and I found a few patterns to follow for the more intricate snowflakes!)

I love the layers and dimension on this one!

I have to admit, the bustle of this time of year and having three young children has meant I haven’t kept up as much with my Countdown 2 Christmas album as I would of liked! But I live in hope – I’m hoping to find some pockets of time over the coming week to keep at it and get down some of the memories!
