Welcome to day 22 of Pink Paislee’s Countdown 2 Christmas Event! If you are just joining us you might want to go back and read all about our 25 day event HERE and HERE. We want you to be ‘in the know’ about all of the free printables and weekly giveaways!
Could it really be only 3 days until Christmas? I think I’m still in denial. This time of year, the days seem to go by so quickly…and we often feel like we don’t have enough hours in each day to get done all that we need to get done. I, for one, have wrapped nothing yet – (NOTHING) – in fact, I’m not even finished shopping. I know, I know…it’s shameful. And it’s crazy-making.
It can be so easy to focus on the presents and the parties and the food, but it’s during these crazy, overwhelming moments in my day that I need to take time out to slow down…to remember the why of Christmas. To remember that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, and that I need to refocus…
Day 22 in my album is a spread centered around how my Lord & Savior needs to stay front and center in my everyday life, despite the other things that may try to creep in to take His place. How I must try to live like Him…and how my husband and I have to make sure to set good examples of His teachings for our children. How He is the “reason for the season.”
Here’s the left side of my spread:
Our church recently renovated our main sanctuary, so I wanted to include a photo of that. I snapped a quick pic of part of the stage after service a few weeks ago, printed it out and added a few pieces of ephemera to the outside of the pocket. I like to add embellishments directly to the protectors because they don’t lose any depth or texture by being hidden inside the protector.
Across from that I added the “TWENTY TWO” card. (Seriously…including 4×4 daily numbered cards that fit perfectly into the album’s pages? Genius idea…). Again I added a few more embellishments to the outside of the pocket…just to pretty it up a bit.
For this pocket I adhered our church’s Christmas series (“It’s Real) card to a 4×4 cut from the 6×6 paper pad and decorated it a bit more with ephemera.
For the final pocket on this side of the spread, I created a little journal card to explain just what the season means to our family. Here I included the definition of Christmas and I changed the font from Courier New to Gobold Regular every time I wanted to highlight an important word.
And here’s the right side:
For the top left pocket of this page, I created a card containing a Bible verse that has always been one of my favorites…Luke 2:11. It reads:
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Oh my gosh…I love that. I added the silver foil “22” to the outside of the pocket.
Across from that is another photo taken inside our new sanctuary. I kept this page really simple by merely adhering the photo to a 4×4 cut from the 6×6 paper pad.
Next up is a photo of our church. Again, minimal embellishment (a simple star at the top of the steeple) completes this pocket.
For my final pocket I layered up a tag with more ephemera and slipped it into the pocket.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas…and I hope you can take a moment during the next few days to reflect on the things that really matter to you.
