Merry Christmas from all of us here at Pink Paislee. We hope the past 25 days of our Countdown 2 Christmas event has inspired you to enjoy (or try) some new holiday traditions with your friends and family members! No matter what..the most important thing is about being in the moment; just snap photos along the way and then come back to your album if you have too. It really is ok…and honestly that is what I will be doing!
My album is actually nowhere near being finished… but today I want to go ahead and share some of the progress I have made and provide a few tips for adding more sparkle and even some metal accents inside the pages of this album. I designed this album to look like all of those amazing t-shirts I see when I walk through the junior’s department in Justice or Target. I always get a little bit envious that I am not a kid again and that they don’t sell cute sequin shirts for adult women. So..the next best thing came to me in the form of a scrapbook album. Luckily for me I do have the freedom to decide which products get designed and manufactured in our collections so I made my own shining star! The best part is that this album is not just for X-mas. The inside pages are blank canvas and even the clear tabs are black and white predominately. It is going to go perfect with our Bella Rouge collection too! There isn’t another sequin star album on the market so grab one of these cuties before they are gone! Don’t worry…I do plan on continuing the sequin album cover trend going in 2015..just keep an eye out for it…
Let’s look at the cover:
Ok..I mean really….the cover is so stunning I didn’t need to do much here. I just added some AC Thickers and a few of the glitter snowflakes from the ephemera pack and it is totally done and adorable! Foam dots are your friend here…a little dimension goes a long way.Use fabric glue or hot glue if you are worried about longevity or items not falling off later…
A peek inside:
The inside cover is white so I just used some of the 12×12 paper and cut it down to size to create an inside panel that wasn’t so bright white. This will be a great place for our family photo or a collage of photos to be featured. Those kraft tags from the collection are some of my favorite items and I will sprinkle them throughout the entire album.
I sort of cheated and took these inserts from work….(they were featured in our Merry & Bright video…HERE) but hey…they are going to fit perfectly with my photos once I have them ready!
let’s add some sparkle…
I noticed heidi did this too…(because we love our stencils over canvas)..but a few weeks ago I wanted to see if I could use green glitter glue over a stencil to achieve a raised & clear epoxy effect. I poured all of my glitter glue out of the tube (into a big blob basically) and then I used a credit card to scrape it down from over the stencil from top to bottom. It is hard to see it here but once it dried I was left with a very pretty shimmery surface. I will tell you…it took a few days to dry….so if you are short on time..this might not work for you..
Once it was dry I was able to add it to my album. I placed it right behind one of the clear tabs that I decorated with lots of ephemera and tags. I love the layered effect and the color it adds behind the embellished clear tab. So..no matter what you use..try adding color to your canvas pages with art mediums or color shine spray etc.
try adding metal effects…
I have had these 4×4 aluminum sheets from Walnut Hollow forever. They were already 4×4 so they fit the pockets on this album perfectly! Recently I discovered that they are super fun to use with embossing folders! As an extra bonus they also can be sanded to show a silver / white center so don’t be afraid to scuff them up! They can be cut with any trimmer and you can use any used corner round punch to smooth out the corners on all 4 sides. These are lightweight aluminum so they are flexible for bending and wrapping around objects too. Super clever. I wish I would have thought to add some distressing with acrylic paint too!
Once it was in my album I just layered a sticker on the outside of the pocket and it was done!
So…remember to take your time to document all that today means to your family. When you are done..get those photos printed and have fun crafting your christmas with our entire merry & bright collection.
