Easy Peasy with pop is the direction I wanted to take with this layout.
There are so many fantastic embellishments included in the Citrus Bliss Collection, that adding dimension and visual interest to your page is easy. I went outside the box on this one and decided to create my own embellishment to compliment the collection. I started with a cute pineapple design I found in the Silhouette store (ID: 1729) and used a sketch pen to trace the design on smooth white paper.
Using a piercing tool I added tiny holes to the outline of my pineapple base and top, where I knew I wanted to add embroidery thread, giving a whole new look to the pineapple.
I stitched through each hole, backing over them again to eliminate any gaps in my stitching. Notice I used a yellow sketch pen, to trace my design. This way the pen mark will be barely visible once the thread has been added. A black pen tends to peek through the stitching, ever so slightly.
I decided to add just a little green to the bottom of my pineapple thinking that it looks just a little more realistic (at least they always have green bottoms when we get them here in the middle of Canada). I used the same method to add green embroidery thread to the top portion of the pineapple.
Using 3D foam adhesive makes my pumped up Cameo cut file the focal point of my layout. When you live in a climate where Winter lasts pretty much 6 months of the year, the arrival of fresh, juicy pineapples is a sure sign that Summer is coming. There are few things better in life than a warm sunny day at the beach with friends, picnic lunches with fresh fruit, and watching the sun set at the end of it all.
