What’s even sweeter than cupcakes? Photos of your kids on display!
This vintage cupcake tin belonged to my grandmother and has spent the last few years in my studio as a storage container. I was recently inspired, though, to turn it into a kind of non-traditional layout.
I filled each well with photos and bits and pieces from the Atlas collection. Playing off the travel theme, I used Thickers and an Atlas cork word for my title: “You are the JOY in my journey.”
I layered vellum, patterned paper, ephemera and chipboard stickers like I was filling spaces on a grid-style layout. To give the different openings varying depths, I adhered some layers to the very bottom of the tin and others were lifted with foam adhesive.
Speaking of adhesive, the best adhesive to use for adhering my papers and embellishments was E6000. I learned the hard way that a metal glue was necessary. But when all was said and done, I had taken an old, worn out cupcake tin and turned it into a great display piece for my wall.
I hope you’ll take a second look at your next vintage find. It might have another life as a display piece for your home!
