Hi everyone! My name is Tarrah McLean, I live near Sydney, Australia with my hubby and our two sons! I was beyond excited when I was chosen as a guest designer for Pink Paislee! I was extremely lucky to receive the gorgeous ‘Atlas’ collection to play with and created 4 projects with it – 3 layouts and an Off the Page project.
Tarrah’s Designs for Pink Paislee Featuring Atlas Collection
The Atlas collection was perfect to document myself with my very first car….I always love to create layouts using a collection for a theme it may not be intended for!
Please excuse my very tragic hair and the wardrobe choice in this photo, the photo is about 20 years old!
If I don’t include journalling directly on my layouts, I almost always include hidden journalling instead, here I have used one of the Atlas tags and tucked it into the left hand side under my photo.
My littlest son and a toy camera is a perfect opportunity for photos! I decided to print a series of smaller black and white photos into a filmstrip for this layout so that I could use include some layering and use some of those super cute embellishments!
I Still Call Australia Home
This photo was taken on Australia Day held in January this year, I decided to convert the photo to black and white but preserve the colour just in the Australian flag my son is holding.
As soon as I saw that gorgeous atlas patterned paper from the Atlas collection, I knew that was the one I wanted to use for this layout..I wanted my layout to have a progression towards our home of Australia…I used a globe cut file tucked under the left side of my photo for extra layering and embellished using arrows to help with the progression to our country….finally adding a map marker to our exact state!
There is a song that an Australian poet wrote once called ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ I was singing this song as I created this layout and thought it only fitting as the title for my page!
I have had this wooden suitcase for YEARS! My Mum is a folk art painter, she was having a cull of her pieces one day and gave it to me to do something with!
When I received the Atlas collection to play with, I knew straight away I would drag this out from the archives and pretty it all up!
I knew I wanted to use that gorgeous piece of Atlas vellum paper with the silver foiled aeroplanes on…I added pieces of it to the very ends on both sides of the suitcase….
The suitcase was too wide to use a full piece of patterned paper on one side, so I needed to improvise and cut the paper into sections…I got the idea to make some ‘straps’ with the navy patterned paper to hide the gaps and LOVE the result!
I added some embellishments to those fabulous Atlas tags and then attached them to both sides of the suitcase handles with some ribbon and twine…
Thank you so much for joining me on the Pink Paislee blog today and thank you ever so much to the gorgeous Pink Paislee girls for having me as a guest designer! I hope I have inspired you to create with your Pink Paislee goodies!
