Designer Details: Shapes Everywhere!

Designer Details - Shapes, shapes everywhere! @Pink Paislee @Raquel Louise #pinkpaislee #ppCitrusBliss #scrapbook #layout

Hey everyone, Raquel Bowman here today sharing my ‘Designer Details’ tip when creating layouts.

Designer Details - Making little go far! @Pink Paislee @Raquel Louise #pinkpaislee #ppCitrusBliss #scrapbook #layout

Of late I have been really inspired by geometric shapes as a repeating element on a layout. The element of ‘circles’ on this layout “So Happy” was inspired by the circular citrus fruits in the ‘Squeeze’ patterned paper and the ephemera from the Citrus Bliss collection. I love how a layout design can be so simple yet look visually appealing and really pop off a page.

To begin this layout I delved into my supplies and looked for any circular elements within both the Chipboard and Ephemera pack. I then used a nesting die to cut circular pieces from 2 different coordinating patterned papers.

These ephemera pieces are perfect for the circular theme I wanted to have on this layout. Ephemera looks great layered, you can add further dimension when layering them by adhering some with foam tape.

I wanted to add a couple of smaller circles to my page, comparable to a sequin in size, so I punched the coordinating papers with my hole punch and used those to add to my page.

Although the lemon/lime ephemera piece is not an actual circle, it still has a rounded edge and compliments the design.

The pieces cut with the nested die are overlapped in parts adding depth to the page. The chipboard pieces to the bottom cluster also add dimension and interest.

The blue circle die cut from the ephemera pack stated ‘Blue Skies’. I felt this didn’t suit my layout but using it as a layering piece did and added another touch of that soft blue that was on the layout.

Before I finish I have to share what this layout is documenting as we were so excited in our household that day. I managed to capture the exact moment my little man rolled over for the first time. He was so close in the couple of weeks leading up to this and I would eagerly pull out my camera phone to capture the pic and he would not quite get there. Well, on this particular day he did it! And boy, as you can tell he sure was proud of himself!

I hope this layout has given you some tips on how to scrap with geometric shapes and embellishments.
