When I think of shimmer and sparkle, images of Disney princesses come to mind, along with rhinestone crowns and glitter galore. When it comes to adding a little of that to our memory keeping, however a little bit will go a long way. I chose to go with more shimmer, and a touch of sparkle on this layout featuring the 3 people in my life who have stolen my heart most.
I used a piece of Bazzill Basics Foil Board paper on which to cut out the Silhouette globe file for the shimmer, and then built the rest of my layout upon that, adding more shimmer, layers, and sparkle as I went along.
The “adventure” from the Atlas chipboard stickers pack worked perfectly as the second part of my title. Adding a little sparkle to it was easy with the help of a few helpful tools.
To prime the chipboard for the best adhesion I used a craft sanding block to remove the finish. I then added the versa mark embossing ink and the embossing powder, a little heat and voila, a brand new piece of sparkle to add to my layout.
Adding the acetate plane helped to tie the theme of “adventure” into my layout. Here, I have popped it off the page by adding a bit of 3D foam adhesive to the underside of the airplane for better camouflage. It’s nice to shake up our creative routine by digging into the archives of our creative designs and techniques and bringing back old trends. It is especially fun to do it when the page breaks the stereotype, like this everyday page designed around shimmer and sparkle. No princesses here, just a beautifully preserved, everyday heartfelt memory.
