Don’t you love it when an idea translates perfectly to a scrapbook layout?
Hello and welcome, it’s Gail here today to share a layout I created to document how thankful I am for the little people in my life! While I was brainstorming ideas for this layout, I kept coming back to images I’ve seen online of beautiful home decor from those in the northern part of the world who are still celebrating fall and (almost) thanksgiving. So I tried to capture some of that in my layout:
As I flipped through the beautiful papers in the Cedar Lane collection, I pulled out a couple of the floral designs that I thought would be perfect for fussy cutting single flower images to create my “wreath”. So I popped on the latest episode of The Good Wife and got to cutting, arranging and sticking my flowers down in a circular shape.
When building up a design such as this, it’s always easier to start by placing your larger pieces and then filling the gaps in with smaller ones. I was sure to balance the colors also, to create a fairly even spread.
I left a gap on the right hand side to add my 3×4″ photo, with a couple of layers underneath my photo to make it stand out a bit.
I finished off my layout with a few splatters of gold and white mist, a few sequins scattered and of course my journaling.
When I look at this photo, I see my three crazy children who (somedays) drive me batty! But my heart is full and happy and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I’m truly thankful for every single moment that I get to be their mama!
Have you documented who you are most thankful for? I cannot wait to display this layout as a constant reminder!
