I love mixing and matching collections! It’s how you can get real mileage from your supplies – using all your leftover scraps and embellishments. The most foolproof way to I find to do this is stick to a color theme. For today’s projects, I’ve kept it very simple and stuck to a monochromatic scheme. I’ve created 3 cards, each a different color, using elements from different collections.
It was so much fun to grab a few Pink Paislee collections and pull out the bits and pieces that were a particular color. I had three piles, one for pink, aqua, and black and white. I quickly found 5 or so patterned papers for each color (most were scraps) so decided to layer or patchwork the papers for the card backgrounds, doing a different design for each.
I then sorted through to find various ephemera pieces and puffy stickers that I could layer up to embellish and add the sentiment to each card. If I needed to, I added a typed part to the sentiment.
And because I can’t help myself, a few splatters of white mist to tie it all together! I love how each card is a different design but they all look somewhat unified!
I’m so pleased to have a few more handmade cards to add to my stash! And I love the monochromatic technique for combining different elements from different collections. In fact, I’m now thinking it would make sense to store my “leftover” bits and pieces from older collections by color for just this purpose!
I see a lot more monochromatic projects in my future!
