I love to use triangle shapes on my layouts and they are also perfect on cards! The Bella Rouge collection from Pink Paislee is one of my favorite girly collections, so I wanted to use it to create two girl-themed cards, using triangle designs.
I thought it would be fun to create a triangle shaped design for my first card. I traced a triangle shape in Silhouette Studio and then copied and pasted a second triangle that I mirrored vertically. Then I overlapped the tips of the two triangles together.
Once I had the triangle shapes overlapping, I went to the Modify window. I selected over both shapes with my cursor and then clicked Weld to make it one shape. This allowed me to cut the triangle shaped card and fold it in the center.
After my card base was finished, I cut four triangles ranging in size and adhered them to the front of the card. I added a few of the Bella Rouge ephemera pieces to decorate my card and an asterisk to the top of the card from the Bella Rouge acrylic letters. I love that the finished result of my card looks like a party hat!
On my second card, I wanted to use connecting triangles mixed with a contrasting pattern. I created a triangle cut file, using the same steps from my first card, in Silhouette Studio. This time, I welded four smaller triangles together that I could back with patterned paper from the Bella Rouge collection.
I wanted to add texture to the triangles after I backed them with patterned paper, so I added machine stitching to both of the triangle cut files. I used the plus design patterned paper on the front of my card to make the triangles stand out and also added dimension by adding pop dots behind the triangle cut files. The Bella Rouge acrylic letters were perfect for creating a large sentiment on the front of the card and I finished the design with a few fussy cut butterflies.
Next time you’re whipping up a few cards for a special occasion, think triangles, and see what fun designs you can come up with! You can never go wrong with fun, geometric shapes!
