When I looked back through my photos recently, this particular photo of my three children on the beach, imperfect, really caught my eye and made me smile! With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, I thought I’d take the opportunity to scrapbook this photo and record my feelings about my crazy tribe!
With all the bright, fun colors in my photo (as well as the playful feel), of course I couldn’t go past the Fancy Free collection! Gosh, I cannot get enough of it! The colors and the icons are just so fun! After layering my photo with some patterned paper, I turned to my background to PLAY!
One trend that I’ve been noticing and I love is fringe. I grabbed several patterns and my scissors and fringed away! I layered them all down the right side of my layout and ran a line of stitching along each one to keep it in place. Each time I look at my layout I can’t help but ruffle up the fringe! It’s so fun!
On the other side of my layout, I wanted to break up the plain white background a bit so I grabbed my watercolors to paint on a “base” for my photo. I mixed a couple of colors to create that perfect shade of pale aqua and used my wide brush to simply brush it on, making sure I covered enough area so I could see it peeking out from behind when I place my photo on top. A few mist splatters and it was done!
As my journaling says, “My tribe might be crazy, messy and hard work but to me they are perfect and I can’t wait to spend the day with them on Sunday!”
