I am over the moon excited to introduce our guest designer working with a summer theme: Elsie Robinson!
Tell us a little bit about yourself: Somebody pinch me, little ‘ol me is on the Pink Paislee blog! Hey everyone, I’m Elsie. I’m 23 and live near Brighton in sunny (haha!) England. I’m a student, a complete paper fangirl, and a fairy light enthusiast!
How did you get started scrapbooking? I discovered scrapbooking last year. I hated the idea that all my photos were stuck on a computer, so I started using Project Life to physically store them. After watching some YouTube videos I decided to give 12×12” layouts a go, and I haven’t looked back! I absolutely adore it.
What is your favourite Pink Paislee product? This is a super simple and kind of obvious answer, but I love all of the pretty papers! I don’t own an electronic die cutting machine so finding new and fun ways to use papers with just some scissors and glue is a really fun challenge. But puffy stickers are a close second, I can’t get enough of them!
5 fun facts about you:
1. I bake, a lot. I make a mean chocolate brownie, but Cinnamon Toast cupcakes are currently my favourite thing to bake (it sounds weird but trust me, they’re great!)
2. I used to play the flute and oboe.
3. Pretty notebooks are my vice. If I see a pretty one in a store, I can barely ever resist buying it. I’m the first to admit that there are too many blank ones on my shelf… oops!
4. My favourite TV show is The Great British Bake Off… If you’ve never seen it please watch it, you won’t regret it!
5. Alongside the other books that I read, I’m never not reading a Harry Potter book!
Campervan Memories: My favourite memory growing up was spending my summer holidays in caravans and on Cornish beaches. This layout is quite a literal representation of that. I love the different woodgrain papers from the C’est La Vie collection, they add some really lovely texture to the layout.
You’re the Bee’s Knees!: I’m definitely not a natural card-maker, so I stuck with what I know on this card: hand-stitching and fussy-cutting! I love the bright colours of those Fancy Free flowers, I could happily spend all day fussy-cutting those.
On the Lookout: My cat’s favourite spot to sit is on our front window, especially in summer when people are spending more time outside. The neighbours find it hilarious because she’ll sit in the same spot for hours giving everyone who passes, what we like to call: “the evils” (FYI, she’s called Evie!). She’s a very ferocious and fluffy “guard-cat”!
Beside the Seaside: There’s something so charming about English seaside towns, especially beach huts which are such a prominent feature of the seafront. Living on the south coast of England, I was definitely inspired by memories of summer days spent eating ice cream and playing on the beach with my brothers, with beach huts as the backdrop to our day.
Suitcase Mini Album: I think I might start getting addicted to making mini albums after making this one documenting a girl’s holiday in Turkey. I had so much fun experimenting using different shapes as the base of the pages, such as ice lollies and suitcases. I’m definitely going to try and make a mini album solely in the shape of an ice lolly soon!
