Hey everyone, Raquel here today sharing a couple of cards featuring the new and gorgeous Birthday Bash collection. This collection really is stunning and so much fun to create birthday-themed projects with.
For these cards I created today I really wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to create eye catching and fun cards using the papers and embellishments in the collection.
The card bases are made from white cardstock cut into 6×8″ pieces and scored down the middle at the 4″ mark. This makes a card 4×6″ in size. I love using this size for cards as it will fit into a standard envelope and in Australia will post as a regular letter if sending them to loved ones.
For the first card, I decided to feature the papers. I wanted to create a tiered cake look so I found some patterns within the 6×6″ pad that I thought would work and started to cut them into cake pieces.
The cake stand itself was a combination of cut outs from paper 02 and a 6×6″ paper. The scalloped cut out design on the paper was perfect to replicate the top of the stand. For each of the cake tiers, I stitched around the edge of them to add more detail.
I topped the cake with three candles fussy cut from paper 02. I loved the finished look this gave the card. I also added details of trimming to the cake layers by fussy cutting out some of the text and adding them to the cake layers.
For the second card I am sharing today I decided to create a fun interactive card with some of the ephemera in the ephemera pack. My initial idea was to create a shaker pocket. Upon sifting through the ephemera pack I discovered that I could make a shaker from one of the frames, some acetate/packaging, and some foam tape so that is what I did. I added a good amount of the sequins from the Birthday Bash sequin pack to inside the shaker also.
To embellish the card I added a balloon die cut from the ephemera pack.
The word ‘Wish’ was a rub on that was added to a piece of white cardstock that I cut into a banner. I added a touch of vellum behind the ‘wish’ sentiment to help it pop a little more from the shaker. So much fun!
As you can see from this second card, shaker pockets are fun and easy to put together and create an enjoyable interactive element to a card.
I hope you have enjoyed this birthday post today! I wanted to show you a fun way of creating two eye catching cards using only the Birthday Bash supplies and basic tools!
