Tis’ the season… for birthdays! Because, oh my! September is just one of those months. Lots of birthdays in my circle. How happy I am for Birthday Bash. I know last week the team inspired with that collection, but today it makes it’s appearance again!

I love packaging. And I love scrapbooking. And I love combining the two. This week we are all sharing our favorite technique. Layering is top of mind for one of my all time fav things to do. You will see me layering on my scrapbook pages. Cards. And even my clothing!

I like to layer. A lot.

Today, I want to talk about layering on a wrapped gift.

This is going to be quick look at how my layering process goes. Birthday Bash is a great collection. There is plenty of creative embellishments and paper to be found to craft any package all festive and purdy. Would love to share with my process for layering it up on your next birthday gift.

I wrapped a box with patterned paper from Birthday Bash. Love that dot on tan. Colored raffia was tied around the box and then tied in a bow a couple of times.

Paper shreds found their way on this package. I hot glued several strands to the top of my bow. Hot glue is my best friend whenever I wrap. True story.

After the paper shreds I layered that cutie little confetti tag. It can be found in the ephemera pack.

The ‘celebrate’ is also from the ephemera. Simply layered over the previous tag. Attached with, yep… you guessed it… hot glue.

There are these super fun embellishments called Delights. Personally, I think they are just begging to be part of a package. Am I right?

What is a birthday bash gift without sequins and confetti? Using the hot glue, these little gems were attached to the tags too. And that is how I go about layering these pretty little packages.

A word about hot glue: for me it’s the ‘glue’ that keeps these dimensional, layered packages together. See what I did there… glue… hot glue. Anyway, make sure if you play with this idea that you pull away all those hot glue cobwebs that are sure to be hanging around your package.

So there are some of my tips for layering a package up right! Here are a few more packages all done up with Birthday Bash. They are basically just variations on the above theme.

Use a monogram letter from the Party Thickers for a package focal point.

A doily makes everything nice.

A tag from the ephemera pack is a must for any birthday gift.

Have fun with bows and more paper shreds too.

Ta dah! A technique I love and use all the time in my paper crafting. Layering. Found here on birthday packages as well. I challenge you to take what you do on a scrapbook page and translate it over to a gift package. And have a party getting creative.
